Need suggestions for an office plant

So I have this huge new office (poor me, right?) but it's super empty looking.

I want to get a plant or two, but I have somewhat of a black thumb.

Can anyone give me suggestions on plants that can survive the office? Nothing too expensive

I'm looking to Carnation especially here!

Talking

Spathiphyllum (peace lily) or sanseveria (mother-in-law's tongue)!

I can't even keep real plants in my home nonetheless my office. I managed to kill my bonzai tree and those things need hardly any care.

Do you have a window in your office? Try an African violet. They like about the same conditions humans do: not too cold, not too hot, not too wet. If you don't have a window, they'll grow under fluorescent lights!

Besides, they're lovely plants.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'll have to look into them.

I have 2 HUGE windows, and we're on the 36th floor with no buildings blocking us, so I get a ton of light pretty much all day.

Another dumb question, would I want to go to a nursery or something to get it, or can you get okay ones at like Walmart? Yes, i'm pretty much plant-retarded.

I got my office plant at Target... it was pretty cheap.

I have a baby arelco (??) palm because I misread the label and thought it said "leaves grow 4-6" when actually the whole thing grows 4-6 feet!

I should have gotten a cacti... but a lot of coworkers had bamboo plants.

An aloe plant is also a good bet, they're almost impossible to kill and don't need water that often.

I like spider plants b/c they are supposed to suck up negative energy associated with computers. Or at least thats what I was told.

I am surprised no mentioned Ivy. Hard to kill and likes sunlight or shade. Needs minimal care.
