TKE Conclave...

Just got back from the Tau Kappa Epsilon Conclave this past week in New Orleans, Louisiana!

It was an incredible event - Last Friday, thousands of Tekes paraded down Bourbon Street, headed by a dixie type band and the Grand Prytanis (President) on a Teke's shoulders...

Of course, the business/legislative side was just as amazing...

On a side note, if any of you are familiar with the "Hand Grenade" drink in New Orleans, it was created by a Teke who owns the Tropicle Isle sites on Bourbon... Teke flags flew all across...

It amazed me that one of our Grand Officers, who is a Senior NASA engineer, launched a shuttle last week, and made it in for Conclave the next... sheesh...

Where were other conclaves held this past year for you other National Greek Societies?

Yep...

Frater, you have no idea how amazing it was...

It is definitely something that Tekes should DEFINITELY attend if they have the chance...

If you would like to see first hand the grand scale and the grandeur of TKE as a society, that would be the place to see it...

The Grand Officers alone - considering their high places in society are a joy to meet... Not to mention the last and NEW International Sweetheart!

Both are beautiful gals!

Too many stories - just ask the Delegates you guys sent from Cornell (Scorpion Chapter)!

I was wondering how long it would take for one of us to post a review about Conclave. I can honestly say before Conclave I was just feeling burned out and unmotivated for Fall Rush, but after conclave and meeting so many great brothers, I am energized and ready to get into Fall Rush.

Our chapter sent two brothers to conclave and twelve of us to ensure that TKE was represented on the streets while meetings were going on. I don't think that we had to worry about representing on the streets during the day because the street was littered with brothers, which makes me wonder how many brothers actually went to the sessions. j/k. I heard great things about the meetings.

Our hotel was a block from Bourbon St so I had a great time. We spent all day at Razoo's singing Karaoke enjoying the three for one's till that ran up (9p.m.) and then we ended the night at Tropical Isle with Hand Grenades; the most potent but delicious drink ever, followed by the tropical itch which I think is an awful name for a drink.

Anyway, I had a great time and got some great pictures. I met a lot of TKE's from Florida and Alabama and they all seemed like great brothers. After seeing all my brothers, I truly believe we are the worlds best and diverse fraternity.

Highlight of the weekend- TKE Flags flying out side the Tropical Isle's

Lowlight- XYZ Fraternity at our bar Saturday night talking crap and then running away. I like to think that those brothers don't represent their whole fraternity.

LOL!

That's hilarious that some people from another fraternity would dare to come and talk crap during the Conclave of the largest fraternity... LOL...

That's basically a death wish (not literally LOL )...

Bourbon street was literally swarming with Tekes (especially at night) - hollering back and forth to each other, chanting, etc...

The Hotel (Fairmont) was beautiful - a historical hotel originally built in the 1800's - housed 8 U.S. Presidents - and had that great classical and elegant feel to it... That was literally taken over by TKE...

The setups for legislation, conferences, grand council activity/ritual was really nice...

Great location indeed- a block from Bourbon...

The TKE flags flying all over the area were a sight to see indeed!
It was nice to know that one of the most famous bar/restaurants (the 2 sites) were owned by a Teke! Those handgrenades were killer! You're right, the most potent, yet curiously delicious and inconspicous drink ever!

Another highlight was the WWF Wrestler "MANKIND" marching with us in the TKE Parade down Bourbon Street!
That parade itself was incredible! Mankind was a guest speaker by the way...

Not to mention, New Orleans officially declared the week "TKE WEEK"!

The former Grand Prytanis (Mark Romig) went to school in the area - and the former mayor was a TKE as well...

If you haven't met the legendary "BUCKWHEAT" Perry, he was an absolute crack up! LOL...

Look at the TKE Site - they have a link to the photography company that took the pictures...
I'm on one of them...

We also have tons of video footage (our future Histor had a camcorder) from Bourbon - it was absolutely INSANE...

Poppi gets to go to New Orleans, and I got stuck in Houston looking at pictures? No fair.

I heard everyone had a blast terrorizing Bourbon Street. I would have gone with my boyfriend if the launch hadn't been delayed, but oh well. Maybe I will see you guys at the next one.

Just a question? At the LXA Convention, do they serve lamb chops?

Mostly at the Teke Conclave, we have mystery meat (sometimes tastes like chicken, sometimes not)

At the Alpha Gam Convention, our food is almost always red, buff and green. Thankfully, those are pretty normal colors for most foods!
