Name My Dog

Okay so my DH and I finally decided to get an other dog (our first dog became my parent's dog 5 years ago). We studied breeds and then breeders and got our Westie today. She is so darn cute!! She is all white and will be puffy looking, like a cotton ball. But we are having the hardest time choosing a name. I want something clever, but fitting. She is a sweet, prissy little girl. If anyone has any suggestions, your help would be much appreciated!! Thank you so much! I'm just not feeling very clever right now!!

My girl dogs have been called Alexandra and Emma. We like to use people names for some reason rather than "Fluffy" and "Spot." My brother's prissy girl dog is Lucy. Basically we went to baby name web sites and just went through those! Google baby names and flip through the pages till something just hits you. Good luck!

My local ADPi buddy that I mention a lot here, Pam, does dog training along with her husband. They suggest names that are no longer than two syllables, as dogs usually only hear the first syllable anyhow.

Hope this site helps!! Be sure to let us what your little girl's name is - I'd go for something Scottish, but since my favorite female Scottish name is Catriona, that would be much too confusing!!

My dog's name is Lily...she was named by the breeder because she is almost all white...

So I thought a cute name that goes along with the flower theme is Daisy!!!! It is white like a Lily and you said your dog is white!! Plus Dasiy is a cute girly name!! Or another cute random name is Chloe!!

I forgot about this: the first time my mother took Buffy to the vet, an older man asked his name, thought about it a moment, then said, "You know what I'd call him if he were my dog? Whitey!"

My mother almost lost it!

If you're going with the white theme, Pam always has two Samoyeds. Currently, she has Icee and Crystal. Other white dog names I've heard are Snowy, Snowball, & Snow Princess.

I definitely like the flower theme!

I always loved the name "Violet" even before I became an ADPi, so that's what I named my sweet little fluff.

Two good friends of mine also have dogs - one has a female English bulldog named Lily and the other has a sweet Chihuaua name Rosey. We always joke about how our dogs all ended up with flower names.

I really like Daisy since it is all white and so it your new little furbaby!

Now that you have a Westie, you must get some McDuff books! The author is Rosemary Wells and they are in the children's section. The pictures are sooooooo adorable! We have 5 of the books and my daughter loves them!!!

Any luck on naming? I'd love to give you some ideas, but this is something you just have to do on your own!

My cocker spaniel's name is Riley Rose (Riley for short, although I usually refer to her as the "Little Chocolate Monster" and "Furball")

As she is a 12-week old puppy, I'm convinced that RILEY thinks her name is "Time to go potty? Good girl go potty?"

I may try that... "Here, Potty!"

I am SOOOO laughing out loud right now. This is the story of my past two months and my new puppy Sam. His big brother Casey loves all the going out and coming back in and getting treats....

My brother used to have a cat who wouldn't respond to his name; he responded to "Dinner!"

I think I like "Dinner" to "Potty" though!

Thank you so much for your help but no luck just yet. She is still being called "baby"! My breeder said that her granddaughters were playing with her and would call her baby. So far I have a list of names, some of them are: Avery, Lainey, Liberty, Tatum, Pandora (she is a terrier!), Happy, and Daisy. I found a name on a dog website and it was Miss Chievous, it may fit her quite well and we could also call her Missy for short. Adpiucf, I love Riley, but my best girlfriend's baby is Riley! I also like Kylie, another friend's baby! Everyone wants me to use Regan, but that it the name for my real baby if there is ever a "whoops". Gotta have a plan just incase we get caught. Thanks so much for your help. I will let you know when we have a winner!

WLFEO, I taught 1st grade for 7 years and know of and love the McDuff books! I don't think I have any, so I guess it's a good excuse to buy another picture book!

How about naming her Ronni or Nancy? I love the names you've selected-- which one is your favorite?
