Blast from the Past!
Hi everyone,
I don't know if anyone around here remembers me, but I used to be a frequent Greekchatter. I decided to stop by and see what's been going on. I haven't been on GC in about 3 yrs now and I see things are still hopping! I was on GC before the Up & Coming forum was even started (I was one of the original moderators too)! It's great to see that it's still going strong! And it's nice to see some of my sorors are still on here as well :-)
Well if any of you around happen to remember me, be sure to say hello! I think some of my old GC buddies are still here :-D
Take care everyone and I'll try to stop by more often!

Hey!! Omg, it's so great to see you all are still around!
I hope Greek life has been treating you all well! Well I'll definitely have to stop by more often and keep up with what's going on these days!
Well, lots of things have been going on since I was last here. I moved from Mich to DC to pursue my masters in education. Last Monday I just finished my finals, therefore completing my first year of grad school! Only one more year to go until I have that nice degree in my hands I can't wait to be done. I've been out of school for 6 years before deciding to go back, so it was kinda tough getting back into the school groove again. But I got the hang of it and now I'm ready to be done! lol! Thank God my program is only 2 years
Anyway, I also just finished a grad assistantship I had working in the Office of Greek Life at my school. It was a really great experience, the students were awesome! I worked specifically with the cultural Greeks there. I only wish that my supervisor was awesome as well It was difficult working with him, so I decided not to return again. It was a tough decision, but I just didn't learn anything from him in the position. I love my students, but I had to also do what was best for me. So, hopefully I'll find another job on campus and hopefully keep in touch w/ all my students.
So yea, that's what's been up w/ me! It's been pretty exciting living in DC so far. I'm so glad I moved b/c I had lived in MI all my life. It's made me see that there's so much more to life than what I was experiencing in MI. I hope I'm able to find a full time job out here once I get my degree. We'll see though. There are a lot of great jobs in my field in Florida, which is one place I'd love to move to as well. I'm really open for going anywhere at this point!
Alright, so catch me up w/ what's been going on here!

Wow, I wish you the best! I would love to go to grad school...but I don't know what for (I don't use my undergrad currently). I moved to Florida from Pennsylvania; it's such a culture shock! Not immediately....but you sense it after a while. I'm in Miami; where everyone is a world citizen. You need to be fluent in Spanish for most jobs dealing with people. The approach to business is very Latin/European in that no only do you need skills -- but you need charisma, looks, and connections to. After 5 years, I'm starting to feel like it's not for me....but then again...I love living here...the weather and how everything is built. It's really feels like the "Magic City" compared to where I grew up. To cross sky blue water and sparkling palm trees on your way to work everyday is so super. If only I could bring the midwestern attitudes down here as well...it would be heaven!

Oh wow you live in Miami!? My sorority is having our national convention there in August! We should totally meet up!
I'm sure living in FL is quite the experience, esp in Miami. I would love to live there for a little bit though and see how it is. I have traveled to many places in FL (Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Lakeland, Ft. Walton Beach, St. Augustine.. I think that's it). I've never been to Miami though, so I'm excited to go this summer.
Yea, about grad school, it took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted something that would get me a job working w/ college students. So I'm doing the Higher Education Administration program at my school. It's a great program and I'm shocked by how fast this year flew by! But that's why I wanted to go full time b/c I wanted to get it over and done with so that I could find a job and just focus on that. It's been quite a challenge going from full time work to full time school, but I really feel I made the best decision.
