Unfortunately, I was a roommate nightmare! I didn't think so then, but I realize it now! I was messy, I snored, I liked the room freezing cold!
But I also had a few, like the girl who's boyfriend would sleep over and I would wake up in the morning or the middle of the night and the freak would be STARING AT ME! Or, the two Columbian exchange students that would talk about me in spanish and laugh, little did they know my mom speaks spanish and everytime they started, I would put her on speaker so she could hear! Or the one who would masturbate using her teddy bear! Or the one who threw shoes at me when I was NICE to her boyfriend! What about the one who yelled at me when I asked her friend to bring out toilet paper back, or the one who was underground pledging an NPHC and would come home covered in mud, and eggs and say she was having "food fights"!?!?!? I HAVE HAD SOME DOOZIES!!

You know, I don't think its the best thing in the world for an incoming freshman to hear roommate horror stories--that said, I HAVE to share mine.

Freshman year. I move in and my roommate is at band camp, so I have the place to myself for awhile. Some of her stuff is there, or, I thought it was some of her stuff, turned out to be ALL her stuff. Black comforter, no nicknacks, very minamalist.

So I move in with my pink comforter and pink TV and pink stereo and HS cheerleading pics on the walls, and...

She comes back from band camp and she is this total goth rocker chick. Wears nothing but black. Depressed all the time. Different guy in her bed every night.

Became a joke, she'd wear white when she was extra depressed so you knew to stay away from her.

THEN, sophomore year my roommate first semester stole from me. Clothes and things woul dbe miossing, one day I had had it, opened her dresser and closet when she wasn't there and there was ALL my stuff, on hangars shoved into drawers. Clothes, textbooks, etc.

I moved into my sorority house after that and had GREAT roommates.

Amy

Hmmmmm, it's a lot different here in Canada, a very small % of the student body lives on campus. My school's residence can only accomodate 10% of the total population, pretty much no one lives in rez after first year. My roommate first year wasn't too bad except for this one big loser freind he had that stopped by all the time. Man this guy had the raunchiest BO, it smelled really putrid and would linger in my room for an hour after he left. Whenever he stopped by I would go to someone else's room until he left.... one more thing, he was a big guy; solid mass but had definitely had his share of flab. Anyways, his hometown was about a ten hour drive north of Ottawa - in the middle of northern ontario. He claimed that because he was from this hometown the cold didn't bother him at all. I am not bull$hitting you when I say this, I swear to god it would be -33 (celcius) out and he would be wearing shorts and a tee shirt. He even told me one time how some guy looked at him and said "what the #@$!"....i'm like, well why don't you put on some goddamn clothes. Other than that it was alright living with him, he slept must of the day, even through some exams.

food fights?! Thats hilarious.

My roommate freshman year had to be one of the most annoying people I have ever met. I don't want to go into specifics but he would go so far as to put a lock on his omputer so that I could not type papers and he would get snacks and lock them in a safe so that no one could touch them without his permission. Mind you he was ALWAYS there when someone ordered some food and he never paid a dime. The worst thing is that knowing we wouldn't hit him because he used to have a heart problem he would be as annoying as he wanted to be.

Well...I am a freshman and I've had two roommates this past year. The first one, was completly strange. She was obsessed with Fred Durst, there were pictures of him everywhere, and she was also obsessed with cars, she would do things to her car to change the body of it or make the engie go faster etc. SHE NEVER LEFT THE ROOM! She was a complete slob, there was a pile of crap by her bed that was 4 feet high and she would just climb over it all the time to get to her bed! But this is what I thought was strange...she would watch tv on her computer all the time, even though there was a tv in the room.....She said that she hated it here and never came back after christmas. I was all excited because I thought I would get a room to myself. Well I was wrong, after break I found a new girl living in my room. She deocrated the whole room with bags, like Tiffany, Bebe, Saks Fith Ave. bags. The second week of living with her, her boyfriend came to visit. I asked her if she wanted the room for the weekend, but she said no, that wouldn't be necessary. Well the second night he was here, I went to bed early, and they were out for the night. They came back and I was just starting to fall asleep, when they were getting into bed. I heard them talking about how he wanted to have sex with her and she said no, that it wouldn't be right with me sleeping on the other side of the room. Well, that didn't stop them one bit...I had to listen to them going at it! So when they were finished, I got up and went to the bathroom to startle them, and when I came back I flipped out on her saying how I can't believe that she would do such a thing with me in the room 10 feet away from them!! I grabbed my keys and stormed out of the room and when I came back the next morning she left a note on my bed saying she was sorry.
I am glad that I was a bitch and that I said something to her! That was just so rude of her, and she has never done it again!

Hmm...my best roommate from hell story...

I was dating this guy from school over the summer, because we lived close to eachother back home...I was really into him, but he ended up not coming back fall quarter, so things got kinda strained. In the meantime, he became good friends with my roommate, because he'd call, and I wouldn't be home, so they'd start talking. Then winter quarter rolls around, and he's back, and basically tells me that it was a summer fling, and things were different at school. I was crushed, and spent quite a bit of time crying to my roommate, who called him a a$$hole and every other name in the book. A few nights later, I come home, and he's sitting on our couch, with my roommate and one of her guy friends, watching a movie. Whatever, I went in the bedroom and went to sleep. The next morning, I wake up, open my eyes and see MY HALF NAKED EX SLEEPING IN MY ROOMMATES BED...WTF? Apparently, he didn't want to walk home late at night, and the other guy snagged the couch, so he slept in her bed. That was not what I wanted to wake up to...the best part is that after I confronted her about it, it continued to happen, until spring quarter when she got a boyfriend, who quickly became a third roommate, and they'd lock my out of the room till 2 or 3 am!! Thank god for my understanding neighbors who'd let me crash at their house!

Well, when I was in school the dorms weren't coed -- and you could get in big trouble bringing a member of the opposite sex into your room. So we didn't.

If you believe that, I'd like to sell you...

Whatever.

I lived in a triple room and one roommate was a straight whisky drinking hell raiser from New York State and the other was a born again Christian Baptist "Bible thumper" from Oklahoma.

I spent as much time elsewhere as I could. It took a lot of 3.2 beer to bleed off the stress of living with those two.

Thumbs down

My roommate horor story isn't that bad...it was more of a frustration.
I was living in a two bedroom duplex with my little sister in the sorority for a year. Her grandfather owned it and charged us pennies for rent. At any rate, because of the fact that her grandfather owned it, I think she had a big ego about it. She'd move stuff around without asking me, she'd use stuff of mine without asking, and then she had some wierd quirks.
She was ULTRA paranoid that someone was going to break in and kill her. So her father made a 'SAFETY BOARD' out of a two-by-four and she'd prop it up under the doorknob of the front door. That wasn't what bothered me the most. What would get to me the most is she'd know I'd be coming home and she'd put it up anyway. So I'd have to ring to doorbell to wake her up and let me in.
Worse than that, she'd be afraid to be alone late at night and so she'd track me down by paging me. I'd be over at my boyfriend's house cuddling and watching a movie at 10 pm, when my pager would go off and she'd want to know if I was coming home anytime soon.
To top it off, she was so lazy, she'd gather up the trash on trash nights, but not take it out to the curb after a certain hour of the evening. So most nights I'd come home to the trash sitting on the front pourch and have to drag it out to the curb myself.

I think what baffeled me the most is when I went to move out, my brother and friend were lifting the box spring of my bed, and found a huge puke stain on it. It was the nastiest thing in the world. I was so furious because she had let people sleep in my bed and then evidently someone puked in it too. I love her to death, but I had enough.

I'm excited to move in with my friend here in a few weeks. We were both smart enough to make some rules up and agree to them. That way we couldn't say we didn't know ahead of time.

I had one roomate/suite from hell and one that I thought would turn out okay, but didn't.
Roomate #1 --
I moved into an off campus dorm halfway through my freshman year. She had been living in that room alone for about a month and I think she resented the fact that I was moving in. I moved in and brought my things, well when i got there she had it all set up for one person, I asked her to move one cabinent and she freaked out. All of the sudden there were all these long distance calls on my phone bill that i had not made and she claimed she knew nothing about. She had sex in my bed with a stripper because she claimed that it was to hard to get up into her loft. I woul dbe asleep for hours and she would come in with her friends at 3 am on a monday and sit in my room taking shots. I would go away from teh weekend and come back to mud all over my desk and school books/papers.. why? because she wanted to smoke weed and needed to go out the window so she wouldn't get caught, my desk was in the way. I am so glad I was only there for a semester.

Roomate #2 --
I met this roomate at the off campus dorm I lived in my first year. She was really cool at first, but then I really started to get to know her. She introduced me to one of her friends, me and this girl are so similar in so many ways, we became really close friends, my roomate hated that. When my phone would ring and it woul dbe our mutual friend my roomate would slam her door. The toilet paper would disappear likea roll a dya, i went to costo and got the 32 pack and it was gone in 2 weeks it seemed. Then when it was her turn to get TP she would buy a 4 pack and use that in a day and say it was my turn. We would often cook dinner together because prepared meals are often too much for one person. I ALWAYS had to do the dishes. And she would make comments all the time about how she "knows when people are anexoric, she has had plenty of friends to know what one looks like"...uhh excuse me for eating small portions and wearing a size 3, i have always been this way!!! She ended up moving back home, but the night before she left I was leaving the house at 10:30pm and i walked downstairs to her and this guy naked. SOOOOOOOOO gross!!!

Man I feel better

Wow, what’s the back-story on that? I mean was it a one-time deal, or did this happen alot?
