Top 100 Guitarists (wtf Rolling Stones?)
Link to the List
Most glaring problems:
12 Kurt Cobain of Nirvana
13 Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead
45 Frank Zappa
70 Eddie Van Halen
82 David Gilmour of Pink Floyd
85 Randy Rhoads
In what universe is Kurt Cobain a better guitarists then Garcia, Zappa, Van Halen, Gilmour and Rhoads?

Hell they put Peter Green on there... but I'll agree. Where's Lindsey????
Still not understanding how Santana and The Edge AND Tom Morello are lower on the list than Kurt Cobain.

hey hippie, garcia's guitar 'prowess' is overblown - his guitar lines are not overly complex, and his solos are winding, noodley and not amazingly technical.
meanwhile, cobain's style relied on such simplicity to create something somewhat different from what was popular - in that vein, I can see them being in approximately the same place. Neither is Clapton in terms of technical prowess, but they both created good music. It somehow makes sense to me.
Santana is a great guitar player, but I wouldn't put him on this list either.

Maybe it's my age but Kurt Cobain? Jack White? I never got the appeal or talent of Cobain. Same goes for Jack White.
Townshend at #50?!?! What the heck are they smoking over at Rolling Stone? The Edge is greatly underrated at #24. Same goes for Buddy Guy at #30.
Whoever lists Eddie Van Halen at #70 and Dave Gilmour at #84 on any "100 Greatest Guitarists of all Time" should be given a hearing transplant, because they clearly cannot hear.
Loved seeing Tom Verlaine on the list!
And where the hell is Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick? Fools!

Tracy, you're screwed up.
Peter Green totally deserves to be on (I'm listening to "Hypnotized" right now) but as sick as I am of Rumours, so does Lindsey Buckingham.

I will say this until the day that I die....
Because Cobain killed himself, He and Nirvana have become OVERBLOWN.....
Don't get me wrong, I like Nirvana's stuff, but COME ON, stop revering him and taking him to g-d-like status and the group as well.

Where are Peter Frampton, John Lee Hooker, Bonnie Raitt, and Robert Cray?
I think Eddie Van Halen should be in the top 10 or at least top 25.

No one's mentioned Angus Young of AC/DC being ranked 96. That's just not right.
Were you kidding when you said Andrew Ridgely?

I agree although it's not PC to say it. I think that many of the bands that were popular during Nirvana's time had much better guitarists than Kurt Cobain. Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, etc.
I don't think Nirvana would have had the staying power and the popularity they have now if Kurt Cobain had not killed himself. I think that Nirvana would have become another one of those 90's grunge bands that is still revered but not popular.
