Temporary Credit Card Numbers

I had heard about this but I can't find it anywhere.

I think if you want to buy something online and want a temporary credit card number some companies provide it. Anyone know?

Hmm, are you referring to when your application has been accepted but you haven't received the physical card yet? They give you a number to use in the meantime? Or are you referring to something completely different?

This is it. I called up Citibank and they acted like I was imagining it. "Sir we don't give out temporary credit card numbers."

I've got virtual credit card numbers through my Citibank card. It's pretty cool. You download a small program, then when you need the number just click on the icon. You login with your password and it generates a one time use number that is good for one year. It takes alot of worry out of making online purchases from a new site or one you are unsure of. If anyone's interested:

I can get them online through my credit card website. Have you tried that?
