Need to converd music on CD to WAV file

I am finishing up a PowerPoint show for my sessions at Leadership Seminar. Despite an undergrad degree from Berkeley, a pair of Masters degrees and a JD, I need some help, BIG TIME

I have a couple of songs that I'd like to use in my PPT show. I have the music on an album, but I'd like to incorporate it in the show. I know how to add a WAV file to a show, but not a piece of work from an album.

Can someone drop me a note off-line and let me know if there is a secret handshake to convert CD type music into a WAV (or other compatible format) file?

Sorry to crash, but there are several good programs out there to convert the mp3s you rip from CDs into MP3s. I believe Cool Edit was the one I used to use. I'm on my dad's computer now, and he has Xilsoft MP3/WAV converter. I'm pretty sure you can find them on the internet.

You may want to convert it to an MP3 file instead of a WAV considering how much bigger wave files are. But then again it may only be a short song so you may want to keep the audio quality.

Or you could just download the song off of Limewire or Itunes.

What song are you trying to do? I may already have it here at my house and could just email it to ya.

I don't know yet. I may use Chesney's "Keg In The Closet", I might use a song by the Hollies "He Ain't Heavy". Just not sure what I'll use at this point.

I actually want to embed the file into the PowerPoint show and I am still looking at applicable formats for that. I know that a WAV file will embed, but I don't know about others.

I had to do the same thing about six months ago, and the program I found was called dBpowerAMP Music Converter. There's a free trial, then the software is $14.

dbPowerAMP.com is the web site for it.

I only used it that one time, but as I recall, it was pretty quick and easy.
