of course this song makes me hate major tom type stories...

I just recently bought a CD called living in oblivion: The 80s just for that song. When you listen to it it's so haunting. I miss the 80s.

Granted this song is STONGLY influenced by Bowie's '69 classic Space Oddity...hence the title Major Tom and also Bowie's time spent in Berlin. But Major Tom (Peter Schilling) came out in 1983...
