RIZE...a film by David LaChapplle
i can not wait for this film to come out. There are posters all over the place here in Harlem.
i was intrigued by the poster and today i saw the preview on tv. the rating is PG-13 although it seems like it should be rated -R. it was kinda racy.
has anyone seen the preview or have any plans to see it? it's coming to select movie theaters on June 24

I saw the preview when I went to see the movie "Crash" and I was like that will be a really good movie. I can't wait to go and see that movie but if anyone sees it before me, let me know how it was because I probably won't go see it on the first day it comes out.

I might watch it on bootleg, sounds ignorant but with movie tickets at $10.75. I don't like taking chances anymore.

I saw the movie Monday 6-7-05 at a premier, and it was ok. I did like the fact of how the young kids were doing something with all that energy instead of becoming a gang banger....I will never look at being a clown in the same way ever again...he he he

Ok, so I finaly saw the trailer for this movie! Its been playing on BET all weekend long, and it reminds me of that other movie..You Got Served, but more of a documentary then a movie. I'm looking forward to seeing it, if for nothing more then the dancing.

What is the movie supposed to be about? Dance teams?
Every time I see the commercial I think of sweat and funk.

From what I got, it looks to be the documentary of street dance (for a lack of wording). If you've ever seen "You Got Served", the dances they perform is what the movie seems to be capturing

It's definitely about dance teams, and instead of joining a gang since this is in Cali, they join a "clown" team...so you are either a "clown", or a "krumper"

For all you NYCers, Rize is playing tonight at Drive-In at The Rock (Rockefeller Center). And best of all, it's FREE!

So, I took advantage of the free screening at Rock Center last night and I really liked Rize. It's rare that I give a movie a good review, but this one, I do. I wouldn't suggest that you be the first one in line on opening day, but I would recommend supporting it. What I loved about it the most was the realness of it. The emotions were so palpable. For me, the dancing was interesting to watch, but it represented so much more; the pain, the anguish, the desperation, the sense of loss. I could feel all of that in their moves. I also found myself really getting into the competitiveness of it all. My favorite was Miss Prissy. That girl has to have 0% body fat (she's the one depicted on the promo, I believe). My favorite part was when they juxtaposed the modern day "Krumpers" with the different African tribes. That was so meaningful. Well, I don't want to give too much away, but I give this movie 2 thumbs up.

OMG...yes Miss Prissy had the tightest body for a female..I agree 0% body fat..I mean most of the dancers had tight bodies... notice I said most...because there was that portly one that had me cracking up.
