Keep a brother in your thoughts...
The High Theta at the colony I advise (University of the Incarnate Word) had emergency surgery late this afternoon to remove a part of his intestine. Brother Gideon is a really good kid, an older member (AM'd in February at age 25), who did a lot of living and left it all to grow up and go back to school and get his degree. I truely admire him for that. He has an amazing outlook for someone who's facing a long battle with a degenerative disease and I just ask everyone to keep him in your thoughts.

Andy,
please pass along our best wishes to this you man. Sounds like he has a lot of grit and at least He has a Lot Of Friends and Brothers with him.
25 is not a bad age as I started the Local when I was 24 and did as many crazy things with the rest of the Guys!

Andy,
Our prayers are with you in regards to this situation.
Also, take heart, when I was High Pi at CSU, there were two brothers of the chapter OLDER than I was! (27 and 28).

Thanks all. Hes now eating nearly regularly (I heard he had a burger, shake and fries today - if thats regular) and is trying to put weight back on.
Gideon will be at GA this summer. I'll be there too. For those who are going - I'll introduce you. He's a great guy.
Again, thanks for your thoughts and well wishes.

*bump*
Again, I ask for your prayers. Gideon is back in the hospital. Again, witht he Chron's. Had to have emergency surgery on Monday night. He'll be in the hospital for another week probably. Went and saw him last night and he looks alot better than he did in April when he had surgery last. Its just gotta suck for him being in this situation and it cant be any fun, so I'd appreciate ya'lls thoughts and wishes for Brother Gideon.

Ya'll, Gideon just cant get a break.
On wednesday night he was in a serious motorcycle accident. As it stands now, his clavicle, sternum, veretbrae 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 are broken as are a few ribs. He has a collapsed lung and numerous lacerations to his face and head. Fortunately there was no damage to his brain or spinal cord. Hes wearing a halo now as a precautionary measure and he's gonna be fine. I jsut ask that ya'll keep him in ya'lls prayers. Kid's been baged the hell up over the last year. Two sugeries for his chron's and now this. His bike was totaled. I saw it. Its a miricle he lived. He's still in ICU and will be for a week or so.
When I know more I'll post it.

Gideon has been released from the hospital. Looks like he will be ok. He has to wear the halo (a medical device that is screwed into his skull that keeps his head immobilized so his vertebrae will heal correctly) for the next 90 days. He's still in some pain, but feels very fortunate to have survived. I speak for the entire UIW undergraduate chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha when I say that we all are extremely grateful for his survival and continued recuperation.
Thanks for your kind words. I have passed them on to Gideon. Let us all continue to keep him in our prayers. He has a long recovery road ahead of him.
In his words in an email he sent to the chapter saturday...
Gentlemen,
As all of you probably heard I have been released from the hospital. My Evil Kenevil actions were not a success at all on the body. LoL I basically broke every bone on my upper right side separating it from the spinal cord. Every bone in my neck was fractured along with it. Life flight has never been such an awesome thing in my life as it was that night. The sound of the blades cutting through the air rocking the helicopter side to side was the best feeling ever- I knew I'd be ok. As for all the brothers that either came to visit, or just put me in their thoughts I appreciate it. Anyways typing with one hand is hard so I’m going to end with this...When I first came out of this and could think right, I felt that I cheated death because every doctor said I was a miracle in not dying and especially not suffering paralysis of any kind. Then I realized I didn’t cheat death, death put me back on my feet for a second chance. I believe strongly that we are all here for something, and my something has not come. Cherish life fellas and take it from me, you never know when its going to end. Love you guys...
