Go Cubbies Go! Kill The Red Sox!
For the VERY FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, Boston makes a trip to the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field, and marks the first time the two teams have played eachother since 1918.
Oh BTW, They're getting their asses kicked!
14-6, FINAL!
Burnitz has 2 Homers!
Greg Maddux hits a home run for the first time since 1999!!!
GO CUBS GO!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!
99 Days until I become a Bleacher Creature and turn 21 right - watching the Cubs earn a playoff birth by beating the hated Cards for the last time of the regular season!

So Nic has informed me that once I move to Boston, I have to give up my Cubbie love to become a Sox fan, but until then I'm pretty happy.
Let me insert a couple in here to annoy Rob even more.

Fixed your post - anyway, just in case you needed it more:
records after today's shelling:
CHI(N): 32-27 (6 back of STL)
BOS: 32-28 (3 back of BAL)
And the Cubs play in a far weaker division. And Dusty Baker is, by any measure, the worst manager in baseball. God bless Cubs fans, brave souls ye be.
Tomorrow's game should be a great one, with Miller and Zambrano going - today's game obviously was over pretty quick, but I think the rest of the series should be awesome.

Yes, the cubs play in a weak division, but at the same time, aren't the Yanks usually above .500?

Cubs win! Cubs win! Cubs win!
As a Cubs fan this getting all these runs in 1 game worries me...since they tend to not get any for a couple games after a performance like this.
GO CUBS!

Lol this rates as news? This is not the World Series. What happens if the Red Sox take the next two games? More whining about Bartmen or what ever his name is and the goat?

OK this makes me feel better about posting that the Phillies swept the Rangers. I usually have so little reason to be excited about my Phillies.

Okay I'm not trying to be rude, but aren't Phillies girl horses? Is that the root of the problem here?
I think the Rockies are possibly the worst team of all time, so it's not like I'm talking shit at all. They're really awful.

Yeah, you would think the Phillies would have a horse for a mascot, but nooooo, the Rangers have one.
Actually, the Phillies are in second place in their division, so that's a lot better than usual. It's early, though.

From the New York Times, the best line describing yesterday....
Quote:
With the Cubs and the Red Sox in the same stadium, there was no shortage of self-indulgent rhetoric. For much of the day, Red Sox chants blended with Cubs chants until the fans could finally agree to direct their insults at the Yankees.

I wasn't even including the Yankees, although you should check their pythagorean records and rate stats . . . the yankees are pretty bad, due to endemic mistakes they've been forced to make lately in the Steinbrenner era, but they've also gotten a little unlucky(also note that the Cubs' numbers are very good in pythagorean standings). Would you like to compare the Yankees to, say, the Reds, Pirates, or Astros? I think only the Devil Rays compare to those assboxes.
Also, as of the 2nd, it looks like the Sox have really gotten to Zambrano by being patient and taking some walks - he's throwing meatballs with his slider, and missing badly with his sinker, and talking to himself more than usual on the mound. The result? Two jacks and 4-0 lead early . . .
When you have a horrific manager, you have to pitch lights-out - it'd be nice to bury them early, so Carlos can't get back on track. He's a stud, but Dusty is doing his best to destroy the kid.
