Founders' descendants in your chapter?

Found an interesting item in the online edition of the Summer 2004 Pi Beta Phi Arrow, about eight women who are descendants of Pi Phi founders. One was in the Washington Gamma chapter (University of Puget Sound) in the 1960s, two are sisters who were active in the Illinois Alpha chapter at Monmouth College in recent years, two are a mother and daughter who are also members of the Monmouth chapter, one is currently active in the Tennessee Beta chapter at Vanderbilt, and two are alumnae initiates (one of whom is the great-granddaughter of both a Pi Phi founder and a Kappa Kappa Gamma founder).

Has your chapter had any members in recent memory whose forebears helped found your GLO?

The granddaughter of founder Alice Bartlett Bruner was initiated into our chapter at Allegheny (no clue where that is) and she was a music professor at my university. One of Alice's great-granddaughters was initiated into the Zeta Tau chapter at UNC-Asheville, and her other great-granddaughter was initiated into my chapter in '95. I've never met the one from my chapter, but I've met the other two.

While I've never met any, two of our Founders were quite prolific, and there are a LOT of descendants who are now Alpha Delta Pis!

In my chapter, we had a 5-generation legacy, whose earliest ancestor was an Adelphean (pre-1905). Poor girl, she did NOT want to be a greek, but was forced into it by her family. She got initiated at Convention, and immediately transferred schools. Don't get me wrong - she was very nice and all, just not into the whole sorority thing.

I remember when we pledged a great-great grandaughter (I think that was it) of a Phi Mu founder. That was exciting! She was a terrific member -- was Homecoming Queen the following year and still remains involved as a Chi Omega alumna.

My great-grandmother was initiated into AOII in 1924 at Omicron Chapter...

I have seen at Ole Miss legacies go through recruitment who are 6 or 7 time legacies to a particular house. Very cool thread!

if i remember my zeta lore, out of our 9 founders only one bore a daughter. she did join zeta . a few founders granddaughters also joined. in my chapter at florida state, we had two members, whose mother and aunt and grandmother and greataunt were zetas, and several members whose mothers and aunts were zetas.

Cannot remember who it was, but somewhere on the LXA Thread, joinerLXA, worked with a decendent of one of the Famous early LXA.

While not Founders, 5 Brothers of LX Zeta were all related.

Wow, it seems that the Sororitys have a farther back legacy than Fraternities.

I know that this is not an example of a national founder's legacy, but there is a girl in my pledge class that is an 8 time direct legacy to our chapter (Mom, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother.... etc). In addition, all of her aunts and cousins on her mom's side of the family are also members! Her great (times 6!) grandmother was the founder of our chapter!

I always thought it was neat when she would wear t-shirts that her grandmother and aunts had in college. There are some from the 70's when her mom was President. We were all amazed at the cute stuff that she had given to her at our Initiation! Although they weren't always in the best condition, seeing the "1967 Spring Fling" formal shirt and "1975 Christmas Dance" sweatshirts passed down to her was pretty amazing!

I think its awesome how much her family has had an impact in our chapter & the significance all the women in her family share by all being members!
