Contaminated Gasoline

Hi Ya'll:

I bought some contaminated gasoline over the weekend and it has ruined my car; and it is costing me $425. Has this happen to anyone else before? I have found one person in my dad's office and she told me what she did to get reimbursed from the gas company. The Ford Dealership is giving me a sample of the contaminated gasoline.

Help? Advice?

If Ford Dealership is giving You CSI samples of Gas, Great, now true to prove it to the Station!

QT who I despise Gaureentee thier Gas, and try to prove it!

If it is just water and it can happen, put HEAT in the Tank, it helps pull the stuff out and burn the No Nos off!

Kath, did you buy it in Oxford or LA? Just wondering, b/c I may be down there in Oxford this summer. I don't want to get nailed with bad gas!

Do you know if it was the supplier's fault or was the gas station messing with the gas? (I have actually heard of people trying to water the gas down in order to increase profits and contaminating the gas as a result.)

Sorry to hear about your car being messed up!

This may sound odd, but when my brother had troubles with his Subaru, the first thing the mechanic said was, "Do you use BP?" When my brother said yes, the mechanic said, "BP spells death to Subarus."

Whether it's true or not, I haven't used BP since (we all have Subarus).

My mom had a Toyota Camry which she worshipped the ground it drove on and she put BP gas in it one day. The next day she started having problems with it. It never stopped having problems even though the dealership and the family mechanic did all they could to remedy any suspicions they had about why the gas was bad.

Hi everyone:

I purchased the gasoline on I-55, just south of Jackson, MS at a BP Station. My car, well it is an SUV, will be ready this evening! The guy at the Ford Dealership told me he is going to type out instructions of what other customers have done. And in New Orleans last year some Shell gasoline was bad and it was telling people they had a full tank of gas when they really had empty so I know Shell paid for that. I just hope this has happened to someone else. But if I have a vial of the gasoline maybe that will help. I mean, I have proof I bought $28.27 worth of gas from them and that was the last place I bought gas!

Gotta get back to work!

-Katherine

The only gas I use is BP/Amoco because we have business cards for them. I've never had a problem, except driving the gas guzzling Mountaineer that I have.

There was a Marathon gas station near my house (Northline and I75 exit in Southgate) that the city closed down I believe due to watered down gas. I think they said water was leaking into the tanks or something.

mr. honeychile uses BP all the time (he has a Ford), and has never had a problem. I'm not condemning BP for everyone or every car, just Subarus!

Have you called the gas station? I'd call them first and see what they say.

Maybe you could try to find other people that bought gas there the same day? You could call around to other dealership/mechanics and see if they had cars with the same problem in the area.

I notice in this area tons of gas comes from Sayle Oil Company distributors. http://www.sayleoil.com/

That's about the only company I ever see up here in Oxford, MS. I will be contacting the BP store to let them know as well.

Oh and I have used BP gas before, it HAS to be from that particular store because I have bought it up here in Oxford from stores here and I've never had a problem.

I have absolutely no idea whatsoever. But we've had twelve Subarus in our family, and so far, nine of them have had over 120,000 miles on them (in 3-4 years!). I'm just doing what I'm told!
