wedding ring etiquette for guys?

OK - random question -- but at work, I've seen guys with wedding bands on their left hands, and some on their right hands.

Does it not matter for guys?

I've only ever seen women wear wedding rings on their left hand?

The "right hand rings" are very popular with women AND men right now.

I think some guys just don't care.

My friend's husband hardly ever wears his wedding band. He hates jewlery so he only puts it on when she forces him to. Plus he works in carpentry/construction, so it's not really a good idea to wear it.

Also, many Europeans wear their wedding bands on their right hand, not their left. I've also heard of people (men and women, usually European, again) who wore their ring on the one hand when they were engaged, then the other when they married. It's fairly sensible, when you think about it.

Some guys don't even wear a wedding band at all. My dad and my future father in law don't wear bands as most guys from the UK didn't at the time they got married.

My dad never wears his wedding band...he's a mechanic, and he allready lost 1 finger in a winch last year, so he doesn't wear it to save his fingers.

I have seen many not wear their bands. Mr. 1228 doesn't wear one...it's cool with me

Yep they are ... I guess for guys it just doesnt matter (which hand to wear the ring, or whether to wear it or not)

If I were married and my husband didn't wear a ring, I wouldn't either. I don't think a ring is a big deal, but I think it's weird for only the woman to wear one (which is why I also wouldn't want an engagement ring, but I'm sure I'm the only woman on GC who would say that, LOL).

my dad never wears his, unless hes going out to some fancy occasion ( like weddings or parties where you have to be dressed up

) because hes a mechanic... although now that i think about it.. he did make my mom redo his wedding band .... in gold and platinum because he "liked to look at that one more" than just the gold one ...

I kind of feel the same way. Not about the not wanting an engagement ring (platinum, pink or yellow diamond with side stones from Tiffany's, Cartier, or Harry Winston) but about it being weird when both don't wear one. I even had a friend who gave her fiance an engagement ring. It was pretty odd, but I agree with her reasoning.

I totally agree with your reasoning. I've told mr. honeychile that he has a choice of wearing a wedding band, or if he thinks it would get in the way (some nasty paperclip problem?), he could have one tatoo'd on his finger. His choice.

My husband wore an engagement band-- I think it was on his left ring finger, but it might've been his right hand. Of course, I proposed to him... we both had plain bands for the engagement, and my small diamond with ruby and diamond wrap are my actual wedding ring (all three are soldered together), and I wear them almost all the time (sometimes my fingers swell). He wears his millgrained wedding band all the time.

I have seen a few people (mainly Europeans) wear wedding bands on their right hands. One of them explained to me that he and his fiancee wore their bands on their right hands while they were engaged, then on their left hands after the wedding.

It was never a question for us, that we would both have wedding rings. I also gave my husband an engagement ring. I hadn't planned to, but a couple we're friends with had exchanged eng. rings, and we thought it was such a nice idea that we picked out a ring for him too. He still wears it with his wedding ring, on his left hand (except he forgot to put his rings on this morning
