Ideas on getting the quantity and quality of new girls??
I was wondering how some chapters go about getting large numbers of MC's? We seem to be able to rush about 5 a semester. Any ideas that we could do to improve our numbers and get the type of member we are looking for?? Thanks.

The Beta Chapter sends out a letter to all girls in the School of Agriculture.
Does your chapter already do something like this?
During Rush, when we ask the girls how they heard about us, most of them say through our letter we sent.

While increasing numbers of MCs is important, it's also important to make sure that those potential members are dedicated. The Eta chapter (UCONN) has had some difficulties in this area recently, and is still trying to overcome them. I think the members need to set standards and discuss what they're looking for in MCs prior to rush, and then share those views with the potential members during their interview.
I wish you the best of luck.

The last couple of years we have done some major recruiting. We send letters out every summer to all incomers to the ag college. We also set up booths at the State FFA convention, State 4-H O-Rama, our college's Carnival of Clubs, as well as any other opportunity we have to set up a booth (we have considered county and maybe state fairs). This summer we are sending brochures to all FFA chapters in our state as well as all extension offices in our state. We have been averaging about 10-15 new members each fall semester and about 2-4 each spring semester. Hope this helps.

The Alpha Omicron chapter at UGA will have its first anniversary this fall- since we got our charter- we have had 35 new girls from 2 rushes! We sent out letters to the girls incoming into the College of Ag. Plus- we have a "welcome" picnic the first day of school. We put up flyers in each of the buildings- send reps. to club meetings. However, the best way to get girls is just through word of mouth during class and at clubs!
