I was looking at this yesterday while checking out Northern VA Tri Delta and Panhellenic alumnae chapters. I'm thinking about getting involved with CFC, as well as my alumnae chapter.

ETA: Oops! I think this is aimed to people in politics and congress. I don't think it's aimed for music instrument retailers

Tom, put down the Scotch. Its not a financial collection company for undergraduate chapters. Its a POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE made up of alumni members of NIC, NPC and NPHC groups who lobby the US Congress on issues important to greek life.

Where on that Site does it list Affiliations of Greekdom?

I dont plan on going through each and try to find it.

Tom its way too early in the day for you to be hammered already.

Ok, its a website of a political action committee made up of people who deal with the government and who can come together and use their professional expertise to lobby members of congress on issues that afftect greek life. Some legislation that affects greek life is listed below.

I dont think it really even lists peoples affilliation. Thats not the point. Its not about the people, its about what they do. Its also not a government run website. Political Action Committes are made up of private citizens who come together to advocate for a certain cause. This certain cause happens to be greek life. So they are working on our behalf. Its also not a site that is there to list who is greek in congress. Again, thats not the point of the site. The point is to let the rest of us know they are working on our behalf and that if you live in the DC area you can join and help.

I think its kinda cool. If we dont look out for ourselves, who will?

Recent Legislation:
College Fire Prevention Act (H.R. 2145/S. 399)
On February 27, 2001, Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) introduced S. 399 to provide for fire sprinkler systems, or other fire suppression or prevention technologies, in public and private college and university housing and dormitories, including fraternity and sorority housing and dormitories. In the U.S. House, Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-OH) introduced a H.R. 2145 on June 13, 2001, designed to decrease fire emergencies at colleges and universities. Under the bill, the Secretary of Education would award grants for sprinkler systems or other fire suppression or prevention techniques. The grants would be available to states, public and private colleges or universities, fraternities, and sororities for use in student housing and dormitories. However, to receive the grants, the recipient would have to provide matching funds for the fire safety project. The bill would provide $100 million in grant money each year from 2002 to 2006. H.R. 2145 has 45 cosponsors and has been referred to the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2003 (H.R. 1523)
In March of 2003, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Rep. Ben Cardin (D-MD) introduced HR. 1523. The bill currently has 64 co-sponsors. If signed into law, the bill would amend the Internal Revenue Code to permit organizations (such as many national fraternal organization foundations) to accept tax-deductible contributions for collegiate housing and infrastructure improvements. Currently, donations to these foundations or local Housing Corporations for non-educational housing improvements are not tax-deductible.

Proposal to Allow Charities to Make Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Grants
Tax-exempt charitable and educational organizations should be permitted to make grants to fraternities, sororities, and other collegiate organizations to provide housing and other student facilities to the same extent that tax-exempt colleges may provide such facilities for students.

Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2003 (S. 1246)
Introduced by Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS), this legislation would allow for the charitable contribution of funds to Greek housing. It could have a substantially positive impact on Greek housing and the ability of house corporations to receive funds for essential construction and renovation projects. Most importantly, this bill would have a very positive impact on the lives of young men and women who rely on Greek housing as an affordable collegiate housing alternative.

Charitable Giving Act of 2003 (H.R. 7)
Congressman Roy Blunt (R-MO) has introduced H.R. 7 which would amend the Internal Revenue Code by providing that an educational foundation that receives tax-deductible contributions will not lose its exempt status under Code section 501(c)(3) solely because that organization makes collegiate housing and infrastructure grants to entities such as local fraternity and sorority alumni corporations operating housing for the benefit of full-time college students. It is important to note that all manners of not-for-profit student associations benefit from this legislation, not just fraternities and sororities, and that the primary mission of the involved foundation must continue to be educational in nature. This action is a major step toward enactment of a provision that would ultimately enable educational foundations to make bricks-and-mortar grants to house corporations for both new construction and for rehabilitation of existing housing.

Click the "About" button or the "Resources" button. Or just read the first paragraph on the home page:

The Capital Fraternal Caucus (CFC) consists of Greek men and women, including those that comprise the NIC, the NPC and the NPHC, who live and work in the Washington, DC area with expertise in the public policy process.

As for individuals listed as leaders of the CFC, I imagine it does not list their specific affiliations because that could imply that they are acting in some capacity as representatives of their respective GLOs instead of as advocates for the Greek system.
