The Travel Thread!

Travel is a form of entertainment, right? So, let's talk about some fun trips we've made.

This weekend, 2 of my roomates and I "kidnapped" our other roomate and took her to Savannah for her 21st birthday. Much fun was had by all!

We spent the first part of Saturday just poking along down River Street until the monsoon blew in. We had planned to take a ghost tour, but opted out due to weather. We did, however, take the "students' trolley tour"-we just grabbed a guide book and followed the trolleys around.
Saturday night we went to a club on Bay Street called "HipHuggers H20 Discotheque," or just HipHuggers for short (I like the word discotheque). It was awesome! Great dance floor, good music, and a downstairs area that was great for just chilling. I am now thoroughly convinced that Auburn needs one.

Sunday we woke up, checked out, and headed to Tybee Island. We spent about 5-6 hours there. The beach was pretty, but the waterline was a little too shell-y for my tastes. It hurt getting out of the water. The water was cuh-hold. The snowbirds from up north were jumping in with no problems. We inched in. No way I was just barrelling off into that. Being the fair-skinned genius I am, I brought along SPF-50 sunblock and managed to escape with a nice base tan for summer and only a slight burn on my back. Two roomies didn't use it though, and came back looking like tomatoes.

We got back about 9:15 last night, tired but completely ready to do it again. I heartily recommend Savannah for a fairly calm getaway to a place with lots of history. I also recommend the Cotton Exchange on River St. for eating. Great crab dip, excellent key lime pie.
