Yale: Police Confiscate 20 of 50 Kegs at Deke Party
The April 25 '05 Yalie Daily reports that New Haven police confiscated 20 of the 50 kegs at Delta Kappa Epsilon's annual beer-drinking contest / party. The exact reasons for the police action don't seem to be clear from the article:

I have to say it sounds like a lotta beer, though!

Only 50 kegs? Sounds pretty tame by DEKE standards.

If they'd combine their 50 kegs with one of their famous naked parties, they'd have something big.

I'm trying to figure out how anyone in DKE even came close to thinking that this would be an "OK" activity by any stretch of the imagination.
Drinking competition? Kegs (common source)? Charging for cups?
FIPG, anyone?

I dont care about the rule violations. I wish I was invited. What is up with the cops taking 20 kegs and leaving 30? What is the point of that? Next year they should get 70 kegs and charge everyone another a few extra bucks for the cups. The cops will take 20 and leave 50 kegs.

After reading the article in the newspaper don't you suspect that this just might be a put-on?
All of this kneejerk homage to PC suggests to me that we should remember that we can thank the WCTU for the Volsted Act which provided the conditions that allowed the growth of organized crime in the USA.

Huh?
(And one of my students commented that the police probably didn't get all of the kegs because they never found the one's in the basement!! HAHAHAHA...just thought that was funny!

Is CT a blue or red state? That may have something to do w/it. On the other hand, if it were a Lambda Chi party they'd hide the "Keg in the Closet" (an homage to our brother, Kenny Chesney).
Later,

Funny...
CT is a blue state (but with a Republican governor).
