Update on Pitt Greeks
http://www.pittnews.com/vnews/displa.../426c6e95b5584
Very strange comment on treating unrecognized houses (not unrecognized fraterities- fraternities that have a house somewhere that's not official and not recognized by Pitt as a house) as third-party vendors.

Strange to be sure!
But seems to be a very positive article from someone in the Administration for a change.
Trying to work together and it is showing a plus for all GLOs there. Maybe the view of how to for the future!
I wish the Greek Advisor at PSU, Ks. was more like that instead of a do nothing twit.

Currently, all but two fraternities with houses on the hill are on social probation for the remainder of the school year.
Is this true??? Yikes!

Yeah, that was my reaction. I'm not surprised. And this isn't something to be proud of or view as progress. I'm used to a couple being on probation, but 5 out of 7?

totally depends. There's some with a handful, some with well over 100.

according to numbers prior to spring recruitment, I'd venture a guess that the average fraternity size is around 40+ members with the biggest hovering around 80 and the smallest with 12+ members.
That's not counting PiLams of course.
I think Chris is more or less talking in terms of communicating with the groups better. There's a long road ahead for the system but I think some positive steps have been made. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day....
I'm guessing he's a bit confused on the third party vendor thing. But I think he's doing a good job, the problem is he's doing the work of at least 2 people, so we'll see.

The Beta chapter there supposedly has over a 100...but I heard that they got kicked off recently.

I'm assuming you're speaking of Beta Theta Pi? There is no chapter of Beta Theta Pi at Pitt and hasn't been for quite some time (under the presumption that there has been one there before).
Perhaps you're thinking of the CMU chapter?

Thank you. I didn't realize that Pitt had so many chapters. I met a Pitt and TriDelta alumna at the Beekman Tower NPC brunch on Saturday which is why I asked.

Just out of curiosity, which fraternities are on the hill, and which are off campus? I know that Delta Tau Delta and Pi Kappa Alpha are up there, I'm not sure about anyone else at this point!

Sigma Alpha Epsilon
Sigma Phi Epsilon
Zeta Beta Tau
Phi Kappa Theta
Sigma Chi
Pi Kappa Alpha
Delta Tau Delta
I think that's everyone on the hill - There are two dental fraternities with housing (I know one definitely is, not sure about the other), which I find amazing that one of the 2 is there, seeing as how they built a new house on the hill, yet the off campus fraternities cannot build there.

That list absolutely shocks me! Where are
FIJI
Kappa Sigma
Theta Chi
Alpha Epsilon Pi
Pi Alpha Phi
Delta Phi
Triangle?
I always get a kick out of seeing a birth control clinic in the old Phi Kap house - but I've always had a sick sense of humor!
And TWO dental fraternities?!
