Tri Sig & Sig Kap
Hey all, I was just curious about something.. I've heard much controversy about Sig Kap and Tri Sig...If you know what I'm talking about, great, if not, I'm sorry...But to those of you that do have the slightest as to what I'm talking about, is any of it true?? I'm just curious...I've heard a lot of stories...

There is a NPC Soroity that is SSS who are are my School and I did not realize until I was corrected by one of the Brothers of LXA's Daughters that they are now Tri Sigmas instead of Tri Sigs as there is a Lesbian Group going by that gener!
If that was the true case tho, what my queston would be why did not the SSS National raise a fuss?
That is all I know about it only what I have been told by a Tri Sigma!

Hey I'd heard that too about "Tri Sig"; I had always called them Tri Sigma anyway though

No its not true. It was just a rumor. If they're rivals then thats why the rumor happened.

I think the controversy being reffered to is, that it was rumored Tri-Sigma was founded after the founders didn't get bids to Sig Kap. This isn't true. There were only six founders (sss was allegedy meaning seven sorrowful sisters. Now that I see it written, six would work too but oh well). and there was no Sigma Kappa Chapter at the time and location of Sigmax3's founding. Hope that clears it up

I heard the rumor too when I visited where the Alpha chapter of Tri Sigma is located (Longwood U in Virginia). I was visiting with my SK sisters. Now, the chapter of Sigma Kappa at Longwood is our Delta Nu chapter and wasn't even FOUNDED until many years after Tri-Sigma initially chartered. So the rumor there is just given a silly smile and taken with a grain of salt since there are no facts that could make it true.
I think it's one of those stories that just keeps popping up.
...which is exactly what Optimist Prime said....(Ooops, I need to read better, sorry!)

Just so everyone knows, yes, there are some eerie similarities between Tri Sigma and Sigma Kappa. But, pearls, purple, and violets were very in vogue in the age that our sororities were founded, so actually, it was more about us being fashionable than copying. Also, the two sororities weren't even founded in the same state...Hence, no connection.

Just to point out that lots of other groups use pearls as their jewel, too. I mean, there are only so many to choose from, and diamonds and pearls both have the advantage of going with everything, so a lot of groups use one of them. (A Xi D uses both.)
