Did you get a chest x-ray? A friend had similar problems, and the doctor discovered her lung had collapsed. Once they fixed it, she was well. The only other things I can think of are asthma, allergies, or smoking or second hand smoke. I had bronchitis four times in a few months. It turned out to be a reaction to second hand smoke.
I hope the doctors can fix your problem. Get well soon.

Well, the inhaler isn't going to cure the infection. Inhalers are to just open up your airways and bronchi . . . not to cure infections. The doctor should have prescribed medicine to treat the infection. Like I said, the inhaler is only to help you breathe while you're taking the other medicine for the infection.
I have asthma that's how I know this. I had a moron doctor one time that just told me to take prednisone and an inhaler to get rid of my bronchitis. I felt like saying bronchitis is an infection you idiot, but being the nice person I am, I didn't.

Request a referral to a pulmonologist or get a second opinion. There are so many doctors out there that have their head up their butt I always get a second opinion.

That happens to me ALL THE TIME!!! I've just been told that it is my asthma acting up a little bit. I had asthma when I was little for a while, but it never ever bothers me except for that annoying feeling of not being able to take a good deep breath every once in a while. It's not really a big deal, but it sure isn't fun!

Try taking extra magnesium and potassium. I would wager it goes away, especially if the Doc didn't find anything else wrong with you.
Try 300mg of magnesium citrate twice daily. 90 percent of the population is magnesium deficient.
Try adding 1000-1500mg daily of extra potassium in divided doses. Buy the capsules and open them up and put them in a water bottle.

there are lots of links online, but i just finished two books on Magnesium . . .
Also . . . sometimes just being inside too much with airconditioning can cause odd breathing patterns.

How about having your Mg and K measured first before assuming this is the problem. Has your MD checked any bloodwork?

I would see a pulmonary specialist - your PCP should be willing to give you a referral if the situation is worrying you. A specialist may be more capable of finding the problem than your PCP would.

I had severe bronchitis that put me in the ER a few times this past winter. (yeah try having THAT in 20 degree weather!) They gave me everything, but finally I went to a different hospital and they gave me a breathing treatment while I was there, and then a prescription for prednison, Benadryl, and albuterol. I was cured like 2 weeks later.
I have those same breathing problems and I do make myself yawn. It feels like I just can't get enough air in my system. I think it's just allergies but it helps to get more tests done.

yea I had the flu and bronchitis at the same time in January and the doctor only gave me prednisone and an inhaler for everything. Like that was supposed to help someone with asthma. I had to go to a different doctor that gave me the breathing treatment and antibiotics to get rid of the infection.
The infection can go away with the antibiotics but your airways can still be constricted after the infection. That might have been your problem PM_Mama but I am not a doctor. Just speaking from experience

I saw something about this on TV - but it was a different town in Cali. where the air quality was making people sick.
Have you started taking any new meds lately? I have asthma but hadn't had an attack in over 5 yrs. Last year my Dr. prescribed some medicine & my chest started tightening within about 1-2 days after taking it. It wasn't a full blown attack, but once I came off of the meds, it went away. You never know....

Luckily we were close to the hospital, so I went into the ER and it turns out I was severely hyperventilating because I was struggling to take a breath. They did a bunch of tests and I am going to see a specialist today. I guess this little thing is turning out to be a bigger issue than I thought.

Oh man that sounds like a freaky ass situation. Hopefully it's not too serious!

This really sounds like a cardio pulmonary problem. Events like congestive heart disease (where you heart does not beat strong enough and fluid builds up in your body) or small pulmonary emboli (blood clots) can cause symptoms that exhibit like this.
Definitely pursue find an answer....ask about pumonary emboli. Do you sit for long periods at your employment? Have you had a lengthy airplane flight? Have you had a serious bruise in the last few months? (Deep vein thrombosis)
Are your ankles or lower legs puffy? Do you feel like you have been passing liquid as normal? Do you have any wounds that have been slower to heal than normal? (Congestive heart failure or diabetes)
 good luck, keep us posted.

Take note everyone. Drs are not always thorough. If you go to a Dr. and they are not making an effort to get down to the root of the problem see someone else. I have been round and round with my mother about the crappy Drs. she and my grandmother have seen (and don't get me started on the ER dr. my brother had a few months ago-I would get sued if I did what they did). My family has no medical knowledge-which can really be a disadvantage. I know I am just an animal dr. but I do understand the mumbo jumbo of medicine and how things work and I cannot believe what some of these Drs (including veterinarians) get away with. I am always questioning (in a nice way of course) why this was not done etc.. Many times the Drs. have said-oh yeah I guess we do need to look into it further-geesh. Isn't that why you go through 12 years of school?
I have come to understand why lawsuits are so common.
Of course I am not saying all are bad-I would never make that type of generalization. Nor am I saying that people are perfect, we all make mistakes. But, people sometimes have so much trust in their Dr. that they ignore what their body is telling them b/c Dr. Smith said I am fine-no need to worry.
I hope you find out what is causing your ailment and in time will feel better and back to normal.
ok off soapbox
