Gunner Palace is more a documentary than a movie. It's not fake documentary along the lines of Michael Moore that tries to push stories or commentary. The film follows around a group of soldiers and you learn more about them and what they encounter. I did feel the movie was anti-war, but it did a good job of really conveying how soldiers are fighting to live as their job as opposed to fighting for some ideal.
If you don't like documentaries, then this is not the film for you. My friend found it boring but I liked it.
As a side note, the sound track should be released independently if they can do so...it's great.
