DeLay scrutinized for payments to wife and daughter...
How big of a glass house can you build with a half-million dollars?
The complete story is in the NY Times...
WASHINGTON, April 5 - The wife and daughter of Tom DeLay, the House majority leader, have been paid more than $500,000 since 2001 by Mr. DeLay's political action and campaign committees, according to a detailed review of disclosure statements filed with the Federal Election Commission and separate fund-raising records in Mr. DeLay's home state, Texas.
Most of the payments to his wife, Christine A. DeLay, and his only child, Dani DeLay Ferro, were described in the disclosure forms as "fund-raising fees," "campaign management" or "payroll," with no additional details about how they earned the money...
..."It's DeLay Inc. " said Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a research group that has closely monitored Mr. DeLay and his campaign fund-raising and expenditures. "If it's not illegal, it certainly is inappropriate for members of Congress to use their positions to enrich their families."
Larry Noble, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics and a former general counsel of the Federal Election Commission, said that "questions are raised anytime a politician puts close family members on the payroll."
More in the Times online...

He has really been circling the wagons though! He has kicked all of the unbiased people out of rules, for example, and replaced them with yes-men, many of which have donated money to his legal defense fund.

And next. At least one of the Morrisons plan to run in that district again in 2006 (Both the Libertarian and Democrat candidates had the same last name...)

While there are suspicions about DeLay, we know Sandy Berger has pled guilty and gotten a slight touch on the wrist for stealing and destroying the most secret stuff from the National Archives.
He's part of the Good Ole boys Network, as is DeLay, so don't expect much action against DeLay.
Now, poor Martha, she gets hard time and an ankle bracelet.

I'm a big fan of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). I think he's an honest guy. Of course though, he's Navy so I could be biased

I really like him too - I'm also a big fan of his partner in the campaign finance reform bill, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI).

I'd volunteer for his campaign if I didn't plan on being in law school and workign full time the next time he runs.
He's too honest to be able to win the presidency though.

If he is what he appears to be, I agree.
