The Hour Game

Ladies, I am reading David Baldacci's The Hour Game, a "killer thriller" type novel. In Chapter Eight, it is shown exactly how this serial killer obtains in depth information on his next victims.

I've showed/read this to several people, each of whom was as shocked about it as I. I feel that it is important enough to see how easily your basic identity can be stolen, that I would highly suggest that each of you reads AT LEAST that chapter. I cannot stress enough, each of us has done the exact same thing(s) that the future victims did, and at the risk of being an alarmist, I would like each of you to be a little more aware, a little more safe, by reading Chapter Eight of this book.

I seriously considered typing out the entire chapter, but I'm a little afraid of copyright laws.

I will say that a serial killer goes to a local strip mall, and in 20 minutes, deduces enough information to kill three different families. Each time, the people just do stupid things - stupid things that we do every day! - that give out vital information that helps this nutjob get into their houses without breaking in, into their bank accounts, how many kids he can use, etc.

The way it's written, you will have chills running down your spine, because I guarantee that you'll see yourself in at least one scenario!

Ack!! I can't find the book right now!

Of course, since I'm not completely unpacked, and have a lot of laundry to do, that's not very surprising...

I'll look again tonight!

Okay, I PM'ed the chapter to those who asked for it last night. If you'd still like it, let me know.

BTW, if David Balducci ever gets a divorce, I get first shot at him!

*ME*!

I couldn't believe half this stuff - and people thought I was paranoid before in college by locking my doors all the time, even though we were in "the middle of nowhere"! Now I'm going to be (hopefully) even more diligent in what I leave lying about for anyone to see.

What really freaked ME out was that I thought I WAS uber-paranoid! When my ex- was stalking me, I learned a lot of tricks from the local Women's Shelter (like NEVER leaving mail in your car with the name or address showing, for one), and yet, according to The Hour Game, I could be letting down my defenses much too often!

And if you like that kind of book, read the rest - it's great!! Just remember, I get David Baldacci!
