Just recently, Richard Boucher, a US state department spokesman, said "We believe the results are not commensurate with Ba'asyir's culpability." I don't know if Mr. Boucher have actually been following the same trial. Every legal and terrorist analyst have said that if Ba'asyir was tried in either Australia or the United States, he would walk free. The prosecutors did not have much evidence to work with and all the eyewitness that the prosecutor had did not connect Ba'asyir with the Bali bombing. However, there were two individuals who could have connected Ba'asyir with the Marriot and Bali bombing. Unfortunately, the two individuals are held by the United States and the Bush administration have refused to hand them over to Indonesia to help them prosecute Ba'asyir and also locate other terrorist suspects.
