Million Family March
I just wanted to say that it was great seeing all of the BGLOS represented at the Million Family March on Monday.
I believe that I saw every one of us represented that day. I ran across bras from all over the country.
Huge ups for the men of Phi Beta Sigma. You guys represented big time. A large group of them walked around with thier banner, and thier presence was definately known.
I also have to give big ups to the men of Iota Phi Theta. Iota Net, your boys represented you well on Monday.
For anyone who was there, if you saw a bald headed, dark skinned brother with a Krimson & Kreme KAPsi shirt on, that was me. It was beautiful meeting brothers all over the country. It was also good to see all the families come together for something positive.
Much luv for my fellow D9ers.

Hey NUPE!!!!!!
Thanks for representing all of us (NPHC). When I saw the news it made me regret not taking the day off and going. Glad you and all those others went for me.
Good looking out brother.

I unfortunately did not make it down to DC for the MFM, however I did watch it live on CNN. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was actually a major sponsor of the event as they were in the Million Man March. I don't know if you noticed, but the place where checks are being sent is the national headquarters of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
I will definitely be checking for the next one. Good looking out for the D9!

I posted this in the Zeta Specific Forum, but I will repost this here:
I was in attendance of the march and it was truly an awesome event. It was great to be there and see so many of our own there for the upliftment of the Black Family.
I was, however, surprised by the number of people who did not attend the March but instead went to work or wherever because either they a) don't like Farrakhan b) didn't feel the march was important enough to attend c)Just tired of the "Million Marches" in general
What do you think?

I caught a glimpse of the march on TV. It is good to know that those of us in the Divine 9 are continuing to exhibit those principles that we were found on,helping to advance and uplift OUR PEOPLE.
Pretty Kitty, did you pledge Lambda Beta(Fall '97) at JSU? I was wondering if you're somebody I know. I have feeling you are.

I did not attend because of all of the above
(Posted by Pretty Kitty and Salience) and my church, which I am highly active in, does not support Million _________ Marches at all and I am behind them 100%. While I can see where they were coming from, I feel that you don't need a march to do that, you need to be proactive enough to just DO IT.

Please Do not misunderstand what I am about to say.
Don't you think that if people were really "getting the picture" of what is needed to be done that this world would be somewhat better? Some people are just not getting it. Thats why we needed those marches. People say that they basically know what they need to do and are doing it ("it" reffering to a better life and unity) but if everyone was doing that we wouldnt need a march. Martin Luther King, Jr had marches...do you think people said that they wouldnt need to go because they're were too many of them? Come on...lets be real. If We were so united and already understood the topics that were brought up at the Million Family March we wouldnt have half the problems we have now.
its just something to think about

I would have to say that I agree with mostly everything that has been posted. I truly wish that there were no need for a MFM. But there is. The one thing that is lost in this debate though is not the fact that we have done nothing and the same problems still exist despite the various marches, but rather the fact that hundreds, or thousands, or even over a million (as was the case with the MMM) mostly African American men, women, and children could come together.
Even if we did it for no other reason than to fellowship, that's kool with me.
Disclaimer: what I am about to say can and will be held against me and some of you may not like it but it's how I feel and you can hate me if you choose.
Now I work in a mostly white office, and there is a certain joy that I get when I do encounter a black face. We have a certain connection and bond that I don't have with someone outside of the race.
I am moved, (and was moved to tears during the MMM)when proud African Americans come together for something positive. I have a deep seeded love for my people, and the struggles that our people have endured bring us all the more closer.
I know that it is hard for someone outside of us to understand. But that is simply the way it is. As long as I have air in my lungs, I will try to support any movement that I believe is a positive force in my kommunity.
