Swing to the Groove
Why is there no forum for Groove Phi Groove or Swing Phi Swing under the non greek org section?

These groups aren't listed because we do not have info on them. Are these national or local groups? What are their website addresses?

I have been wondering why these organizations aren't represented here too, but I never thought to ask . Thanks for bringing it up.

My group is not listed either. Ceres International Women's Fraternity. Ceres has 2 chapters in Kentucky but not very many total. We would also like a forum under the non greek name section. My chapter's site is at http://www.wku.edu/~ceres/
Thanks

Okay yall:
If we're going to add stuff like this, are we going to add Masons and Eastern Stars (some may say the original fraternal orders), too?
I'd like to be represented, as well. But I'm just curious. I must admit there are sites for Masons and Eastern Stars out there already.

I do not know about all other orgs. not listed here but, as far as grooves and swings, I always thought they do not consider themselves "greeks". In fact, I found a little disturbing the fact that a group of grooves I saw at Columbia Univ. during a Nupe party, laughed at the frats and sorors, and even had "One less Greek" on the back of their shirts. I also noticed one of their chants says something about how stupid it is to get on the cut and so on.
I am going to check their sites to educate myself about these orgs., but again, was always under the impression that they do not consider themselves "greeks"
Only intelligent replies. PLEASE.

I was under the same impression Ghostface-Killah. The Swings I have met have made it very clear that they do not want to be affiliated or mistaken for a Greek. (I approached one about why they use PHI in their name. That was the answer I got.)

You are right soror Ghostface
GphiG and SphiS are Social Fellowships. Not to be called a Fraternity or Sorority. However, despite their non-affiliation with the Greek System, they are fraternal in nature. They are both also worthwhile orgs. So if you want to follow the "Letter of the Law" they are not and should not be considered Greek orgs. But if you want to follow the "Spirit of the Law" they should be included.

PS: I've seen the T-shirts that say "One Less Greek". However, I've never taken offense to it, assuming it was all in good fun and the spirit of competition that us Greeks are known for. I also know many Grooves and I have never, in any way, been discriminated against or shaded (as I have seen MANY Greeks do to them) because of the fact that I am a PROUD GREEK. As a matter of fact, I was supported in my decision.

Look soloRHO!!!! Don't act as if you don't know who I am!!!!!! What's goin gon BABY GIRL!!!!!
Yes, I am glad your experience is different from mine, but, as stated, it is an experience. "One less greek" has nothing positive to it nor can I take it for a joke considering ALL the positive things WE greeks do. I hardly know any groove or swing on a personal basis, reason why MAYBE I don't know much about them as an org. To be honest with you, I cannot deny that the particular experience I described minimized my desire to want to learn about them.
Enough said.

Aaayyyy, Mira Mami, stop busting my chops!
Besides, you know my best friend is a Groove [Yes board, that's why I'm defensive of them ]
Anyway, I do encourage John and everyone else to look into GphiG and SphiS.
Peace
