Nashville Star
Anyone watch this in years past? I really like it - one of my favorite competition-like reality shows. I'm not even very knowledgeable in country music (aside, of course, from Shania and Dixie Chicks) -- but I really like this show because the people on it are actually GOOD at singing. What a novel idea!
I think the premiere is March 1st. Yee haw! Any Nash star takers out there???

I'm a Nashville Star fan, for sure!! Buddy Jewel won the first season, and what a great songwriter he is. If you don't know that already check out the song he wrote, inspired by a conversation between him and his daughter......"Help Pour Out the Rain (Lacey's Song)" it's awesome. oh, and the song "Sweet Southern Comfort" was written by a graduate for my old school---the University of North Alabama!
The cool thing about Nashville Star is that the contestants must play their own music, write songs, as well as covers......and these people have been in the trenches for a long time, most of them trying to make it singing in bars and whatnot......
Much more talent than you would see on American Idol, IMO.

I couldn't agree more about the talent that comes out of Star! It's the best on tv, totally agree.
I had no idea about Buddy! Thanks for passing that info along.
What do you think of Phil Vassar being a judge this season? Ummm, i'll tune in every week just to see him hottie!

A friend of mine used to date Phil. (Just thought I'd throw that out there, FWIW.)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show. Living around Nashville, you see SO many people who are good but just need a break. This show gives them that opportunity. It really is about talent all the way.
I do think, though, that some contestants are shafted for what the judges think will sell best. Some have shown promise, but the judges tell them they just wouldn't make it.
I think the judges are WRONG sometimes. Dude in the red hat last season drove me INSANE! I thought he lacked talent. The judges seemed to like him JUST because he was different. Well, different doesn't always go over well in Nashvegas.
Just my 2 cents.

I can't believe one of your friends dated Phil - lucky, lucky girl! What happened?????
I think the judges this year will be awesome - I'm really looking forward to watching them in the new season. And although I'll miss Nancy, I love LeAnn and am wondering what her outfits are going to be like!

To tell you the truth, I am not sure. She's happily married, as is he. But, there seemed to be some residual feelings (bad or good, I am not sure). So, I just let it be. Every now and then, she brings him up. She dated him back in Texas, I think. Funny that they both live in Nashville now.
Oh, one of my husband's co-workers just quit in order to participate in NS. I think he said his name was Jody Evans, maybe?

I just remembered, though, that I'll have to get used to the new night and time of Nash. This year I think it's going to be on on Tuesdays, instead of Wednesdays. Hmmm, i'll have to juggle some stuff around - but it's worth it for my Nash Star! Is it March 1st yet??????

Is anyone else watching??
I caught a re-run of last week's season premiere and was able to catch some of tonight's show. There is so much talent on that stage! I'm impressed!
I was sad to see my fellow Texan leave tonight, but I have to admit -- he sucked last week. Sorry bud. Your bad.
I also have to say I just looove Phil Vassar. I don't think he gets the credit he deserves though. He is such an awesome vocalist/pianist/performer.

I watched last night and LOVED it! Okay, I love Phil Vassar, but Bret Michaels was CRACKIN me up! He was soo funny dancin' around and singing with all the contestants . . . good times.
I love Tamika - she is my absolute favorite. And I'm glad Jenny got another chance after she up-chucked last week. That is incredibly embarassing. PS - Tamika song "I'm Alright" !!! Phil must have LUVED her !

I'm still watching! I have a few favorites, one of which was voted off last night. She sounded horrible last week though.

Honestly, her vote off was in the bag.....I mean, Janis Joplin? She came nowhere near the caliber of performance it takes to do justice to Joplin.......I mean, did you see the Grammy's when Joss Stone and Melissa Etheridge sang tributes to her? It was incredible!!!!
But anyway, it's definitely shaping up to be a pretty good 3rd season....
(FYI, Miranda Lambert's first album is out.....)

Okay, I just found out that LeAnn and Bret Michaels will be singing "every rose has it's thorn" as a duet tomorrow night on Nash Star! Cray-zay! I have no idea what that's going to sound like - can't wait to see it!
So glad Casey was voted off, btw. Yeah, a limited few can pull of Janis and she just wasn't one of them.
