A federal jury awarded a former San Jose State University student $200,500 after jurors found that a police officer used excessive force and falsely arrested her during a fraternity party.
Jurors deliberated for almost 10 hours before returning a verdict Tuesday against San Jose Officer William Foster, 37, a seven-year veteran of the department.

_Foster was accused of putting Laura Bushell McIntyre, an honors student, in a "nerve-pressure hold" while trying to break up a Sigma Pi party Feb. 8, 2001.
McIntyre, who is now a pediatric nurse, has permanent nerve damage in her neck and shoulders because of the incident, said her attorney, Jeff Kallis.
