Spring 05 Rush Results
OK, I guess I'll be the first to start this thread.
How many new A.M.'s did your chapter (or another you
know of) get this semester?
Georgetown had "Bid Day" yesterday, and I think we got:
17
...still the largest on campus I believe (though Pikes are
catching up quick!)
A.M. Ceremony is tomorrow evening, so I'll get an official count
then (rushees can still take open bids for another week or
so, but usually all open bids are accepted within a
day or 2 after Bid Day)
It was kinda sad to see the KA's get so few...they're the
oldest chapter on campus (just had their 100 year anniv.
last year) and I think, even with their new pledges, they
are under 15 or 20. The confederate flag was officially
banned from campus a couple of years ago, so they had
a home-made flag at bid day....a white pillow case with a red
donkey in the middle and KA...not sure what the significance
of that was.
We only have 5 fraternities, including a local non-greek-letter,
so its kinda sad to see one doing so poorly. All have been
here since the late 60's (PhKT is the youngest).
PS
Yep, confirmed 17 new AMs. Puts chapter size at about 55.

We had 9 accept and 8 are still here. One left 2 days in because he "decided he didn't want to be in a fraternity." whatever that means. Not a great rush, but overall it was slow on campus.

We got 9 guys at UT. The best quality for a spring class I have ever seen and it was a very competitive rush. Puts us back over 80 guys. We took 5 guys from Kappa Sig, three whom already signed bids there but realized they made a big mistake.
I was happy because that fraternity is a good fraternity but has got in a lot of trouble recently with hazing and low initiation numbers. I feel they put on a major front during rush and then totally changed the following Monday and the prospectives have no clue why they signed with them.
Overall it was definitely a top three performance and we are really happy with it because it takes off some pressure for fall rush . Anyway, good luck everybody get some new associates and have fun during rush.

Shippensburg got 11 new AM's this weekend, there might be a 12th one later this week, but a solid 11, which for SU is a very nice total.
This puts our chapter at somewhere around 45 active members or so, not sure of an exact figure.
Thanks

UIW's recruitment starts tomorrow. They are on deferred recruitment, so the spring is their time to shine. They have too.
UT-San Antonio's recruitment starts on Wednesday.

Hanover College
Theta-Zeta got 21 new AM's. This was our main rush for the year, and it brings our total up to 56 quality guys...not bad for a campus of just under 1000 students.

AMs
USI - Phi Xi Zeta
This semester we only got 4 new guys + 1 hold over
Fall semester we only had 7 new guys + 1 hold over, but only initiated 5.
I don't know what our problem is, we've gotten awards just last year for recruitment, but now we have a hard time doing it. Can anyone suggest recruitment techniques? It's just sad, but great to see that Theta Zeta can get 21 guys where we can get 4 out 10,000+ plus students that attend here.
On another note, other fraternities only got 2 or 3 guys this semester, so it's not just us. If anyone can help by giving suggestions and tips, that would be great,
Yours in ZAX,
PhiXi380

We at LX Z only Initiated 2!
Some one once put on Site, We Rush 365 Days a Year! How damn True!
We are seeing the New Plans for a New House with 5 Actives. Strange isnt it?
but an Alum is stepping up to the plate to finance it. Still need Members to fill it.
Spring Rush is nothing at PSU, Kansas, and I keep trying to tell them, Hey, We have a Great Fraternity with a Lot going for it and a New House coming. Time to put the bait on the hook, sell, sell, sell!
Congratulations on All Of The Zetas on Figures!!!!!!!

hey guys --
at texas A&M, college station we got 10. the rush chairs were telling us it was a really good rush because all 10 guys that we gave bids to there was no question or debate on whether to let them in. it was pretty cut n dry this semester.
what was pretty sad though was that sigma chi had like 3. they looked really shabby at bidhouse.

The soon to be Pi Epsilon Zeta at UIW (on Saturday) signed 7 guys of the 9 that went through formal recruitment. One didnt have grades, the other wanted to help the other group that wqas having trouble. I dont mean the 9 guys that went through formal recruitment with us, I mean only 9 went through formal recruitment overall.
The undergrads have 2 or three more guys they will sign in open rush next week.

at Grand Valley State U, Delta Theta have 10 brothers (2 are AMs). We are still bidding people right now so I don't know what we will end up with. However, we must have at least 15 people or the IHQ will come and shut us down at the end of the school year.

On March 11th UMBC (Phi-Delta) and Towson (Phi-Omega) will be initiating the York College colony. I think i was told there will be 16 guys going threw. I think they have 18 total right now but two can't make the date. I'm marking it off in my calendar so i'll let you all know how it goes.
