Are these same officers that were missing? I heard this on the news this evening that 4 officers were missing and they could not confirm their status.

This is very sad.

I was just up there last weekend and got threatened by a mounty that if everyone didn't quiet down we would be thrown out on the streets.

I'm like 'wow, the streets of Niagra, I'm pretty scared.'

Apparently, Canada has never seen this many police officers killed in the line of duty at once in the country's history. My thoughts are with the loved ones of the officers who died.

Getting shot over a marijuana bust? Doesn't seem hardly worth it.

What a waste.

I always feel bad when a public servent is killed like this.

Thankfully you didn't make a comment like this while up here... the RCMP would not have taken it lightly.

My only hope is that the old legends are true:
"A Mountie will hunt his prey to the grave and beyond".

But to put it in perspective - the only comparable casualty count was from the Northwest Rebillion.... I can personally say that the suspect is a marked and hunted man - the local police, provicial, federal (RCMP), and military have all vowed to hunt the f*ckers down and bring them to justice.

"The last time more than one police officer was killed on duty was on June 18, 1962 in Kamloops, B.C"

I can't believe this is the worst police killing since 1885! But like it was said on the news yesterday, we are a generally peaceful country and things like this jsut don't usually happen. Yes police and the RCMP get killed on duty, but not usually for than one or two. One representative from the RCMP was saying last night that there is often a 2 or 3 year stretch between the deaths of RCMP officers on duty. This whole situation is so sad.

Posession of small amounts has been decriminalized.

It is certainly a tragedy, as it is anytime that law enforcement personnel give their lives in the line of duty. But, it begs the question, maybe they wouldn't have been such easy targets if they weren't wearing their Mount-Me hats. Those things aren't the most tacital of uniform pieces.

Ummm... the red serge is a cerimonial/dress uniform... regular duty they wear something similar to police uniforms across North America... and in this case they where in there duty/patrol uniforms - with soft tactical vests, their sidearms and pepper spray. The man they were investigating however had a high powered military assault rifle...

It's just to bad the guy turned the rifle on himself - denied the police and families some closure by seeing him rotting away in a prison cell for life.
