Fines for Lack of Fire Alarms (East Carolina U. Sigma Nu)

Failure to install or arrange for installing fire alarms to meet new requirements is resulting in fines for an East Carolina U. fraternity. The chapter is also on probation, and their national HQ will soon make a decision about the chapter, according to this story:

Sounds like this is more than just smoke alarms.

This puts the chapter in a bad spot, because the stuff can be expensive.

But it also saves lives.

Red face

DeltaAlum, while this is so True, there is a"Grandfather Clause" that cannot be over turned via Court Judges.

While We all agree, Smoke Detectors are A Must and Sprinkler Systems are need, when it comes to OLD HOUSES, it is a Tremendous expense.

I dont know for sure How many GLOs have Low Cost Loans like LXA does to do this, it is still important to have done if it is feasible then DO IT!

But, as many of us know, the Chapters are on a short budget.

Update: Sigma Nu Closes East Carolina Chapter

The chapter house will be sold. Neither the chapter nor the alumni were able to find a way to keep the chapter going, apparently, particularly with the expected expense of fire alarms.

Thumbs down

As I mentioned in previous post Grand Fathering clause

I guess alot depends on what City Ordinances or depending on Housing Numbers.

Yes, We all know what fire/sprinkler systems are worth to save Lives of Our Members.

But, to put an Organization out of business and off campus is a lot extreme!
