Help!
I received this email about a position on a chapter's advisory board.
Hi Kate! My name is J and I am the Chapter Adviser for AST at WCU. We definitely could use you on our advisery board!! Charlie and I have been trying to find people who would want to help. Feel free to email me at any time and let me know what you would like to do. The only positions held right now are CA & Chapter Consultant... so if there is a position you held & loved, or want to try something new, just let me know. Thanks so much!!
I am not sure of the position that I want to take!

I would say, take the position you will feel most comfortable in, and be best able to help the chapter with. After all, you will be the one helping the chapter!

Ditto. (Yay for being asked to serve!)
Think about what skills you have to offer the chapter. If you're great with numbers and checkbooks, be the Treasury advisor. If you are a recruitment rock star, be the Recruitment Advisor. If you're torn between two positions, take the one that fits you best. It doesn't mean that if your the Treasury advisor you can't ever discuss recruitment issues...ultimately you can work with the rest of the advisory team and help out anywhere that's needed. And if further down the road an accountant wants to be an advisor, smile and hand her the Treasury info, and fill another open spot.
I think that once you get involved you will find your niche. Another idea is to work with the chapter for a little bit, help out where needed, and figure out where you are the most comfortable.
Thank you for being willing to help out a chapter!

The ACA is actually the treasury advisor... there is also a New Member Educator advisor. I'm sure that you could fit in well with any of these advisory positions... Like PsychTau said, you won't be limiting yourself to just recruitment, financial, or NM education.
I visited chapters that had awesome advisory board members and I also served as an ACA and Recruitment Advisor, so if you want any pointers let me know...
