Yall are going to love this...
Yall will get a kick out of this. I did a member search on the ADPi official website for my rather small town, and there are 60 sisters here in town, and another 20 in several small towns around here, like within a 20 mile radius! I guess it's because I do live in Georgia, and ADPi has been around a long time, but still! 60! And there were many that I know, both younger and older, and see around town from time to time, but didn't know they were sisters!
I was also suprised to see four other doctor's wives on the list (I only knew about one ), and one woman who once very graciously showed me her home when we were interested in older homes. And, here's another kicker: a girl who pledged the year after me lives two miles away! If I hadn't seen her maiden name I probably wouldn't have picked up on it. Unfortunately, her telephone and house number weren't on her information, but I can call another sister who lives here and was very good friends with her in school to find out. I GUESS that sister knows she's here, and just never mentioned it the few times we do see each other. The oldest woman on my town list was initiated in 1931. There's also initiation dates of 1941, 1943, 1949, and 1953 (the year I was born ) Two people on the list were from chapters that are now closed, and 17 chapters are represented! And, there is one family where the mother, daughter, and two sisters-in-law were all ADPis at either Brenau or the University of Georgia. Ain't that cool?

That is really cool!! I live in a rather large area (not big city, but several mid-size cities all close togther). There are only 70 sisters in this whole area. I wish I lived somewhere where there were more sisters around. I can't imagine having 60 sisters all in the same town as you! That is so awesome.
BTW: The oldest living sister in my area was initiated in Alpha Theta in 1917!!!

I just figured out that the member who was initiated in 1917 had to have been a founding member of Alpha Theta....WOW!

There are 1498 sisters just within 25 miles of my zip code!! Granted, I live in the Denver area and know we have a lot of sisters around, but I didn't realize that many. We try to communicate with sisters within an hour or so driving distance...just imagine. Now, if only we could get 10% of those people involved...

I really do think that is neat that there are so many right within your town... As for me, within 25 miles from where I am currently living there are 2299 sisters... And within 5 miles there are 41... I also happen to live in the San Francisco Bay Area... So that really has something to do with it...
And since I will be moving in a few months... Within 25 miles of me there will be 356 sisters, and within 5 miles there will be 156... The fact is though, that I will be moving to Fayetteville, AR... Home of the University of Arkansas at the Delta Delta chapter... I am really hoping to be more involved there, since here the nearest alum assoc. is 40+ minutes away without traffic where I am now...

Oh, I would love to be able to work with a chapter! Actually Mercer is only about 1 hour away, Ga. Tech the same (or less), and GSCU 1 and a half hours away. But I am sure they have active alumni close by.
CougADPi- 1917! Good Lord, that woman is still alive? I love to hear what college was like back then, wouldn't you? The sorority, too. And, Alpha Theta, which college is that at? I could look it up, but you could tell me easier!

BBelle-- do not hesitate to get involved with a chapter that is one hour away!!! I am an advisor for a chapter an hour south of where I live-- and I absolutely love it!! My initiation chapter is about 10 minutes from where I live now-- but I would rather be an advisor for a chapter I was not a member of in college!! Fill out the will serve info on Pride Online and see what happens!!

When I was an active, we always teased that "old" ADPis go to (suburban town of Pittsburgh) to die! Well, we were right! Within a MILE of my house, there are 109 Alpha Delta Pis!!!!
So somebody tell me why exactly two of us have been doing Jewel Degree alone for the past few years?!

When we were planning our 70th chapter anniversary, I got a chance to know our founder. What a POWERHOUSE!!!!! She started the local in 1917 that became Alpha Iota in 1920, and went on to National Office - Louise Heatherington. I can remember telling a former boss of mine that I knew her, and he dropped his coffee! "You know Miss Heatherington?!?!?!" I could see that his esteem for me was sky rocketing by the second! I got to be her geriatric counselor before she passed away - feisty until the end!

Alpha Theta is at the University of Washington. My chapter (Upsilon-WSU) helped with their installation way back in 1917!!

Inspired by the rest of you....
There are 12 other ADPi's living in MY small town (one of which I've met through the alumnae association in San Diego), and 873 other ADPi's living within 25 miles of my town. Now, maybe that's since I live *semi*-close to a big city, but it's still mind boggling, and now I want to meet those other ADPi's in my town!

ok i want to play too.
from my home zipcode in austin:
within 5 miles - 237
oldest initiation date i found was march 1909, but i didn't look at them all. there seem to be a lot of women near to my house who were initiated at UT in 1909-1920. i think that's insanely cool. also found a founder of my chapter who lives 3 miles from my house.
within 25 miles - 1,286
i actually expected more for the austin area.
now from the gamma upsilon house:
within 5 miles - 125
within 25 miles - 1288
but 25 miles only goes as far as plano..
so in most the DFW metroplex (50 miles) - 5157
whoa.
