OK, I'm copping to the fact that I'm old ... but who in the heck is "Dirty Sanchez"?

WOW
No, you're not old, I don't know who Dirty Sanchez is either. It did however say something about MTV UK (England?) so maybe that's why. What ever happened to the greek shows they used to have? Ran out of local org's willing to make themselves look bad?

At least they are refreshingly honest about what they want to do ... they want to highlight the very worst of fraternity life by finding the frat with the worst reputation ... nice. What's next ... "hey kids ... do you have the reputation as being the sleaziest sorority? we want YOU and we really mean ... we WANT you!" uncooth brits

Its Brit
It's a British MTV series, apparently similar to Jackass.
Dirty Sanchez 2
Jobs For The Boyos
The Boyos are back!
The second series of 'Dirty Sanchez' launches on MTV at 11pm on Wednesday, May 12, bringing the return of fearless and unhinged Welshmen Pritchard, Dainton and Pancho and their partner in depravity, Dan Joyce.
Series One saw them rolling in stinging nettles, playing naked paintball and nailing their genitals to a piece of wood.
Series Two goes even further than that, to an even more dangerous realm... the work place!
Whether they're learning the finer arts of waxing in a beauty salon, or facing the full-throttle power of a fire hose, it's all in a day's work for the Dirty Sanchez boys.
Make sure you check back here soon for a behind-the-scenes diary from the boys, and a few sneaky peaks at the new series' best (or worst, depending how you look at it) bits!
Watch 'Dirty Sanchez 2: Jobs For The Boyos' every Wednesday at 11pm.
'Dirty Sanchez: The Complete First Series' is out on DVD now!

IIRC a GreekChatter pointed out that one of the MTV "Sorority Life" epsiodes featured "shopping for dildos on national TV," so "sleaziest" is gonna have to go beyond that.

They were just shopping for them, not trying them out

Great.
Any chapter stupid enough to apply for this show should also be required to mail in their charter to headquarters as soon as filming starts.
Has ANY fraternity chapter on MTV's Greek Life survived?
Lesson to the wise - avoid this kind of publicity at all costs - it's fatal to the chapter.

I don't know if any of the fraternity's have survived but I do know that one of the sororities is now becoming a pseudo international because of the MTV show. I say pseudo because usually I only considered internation to refer to sororities that subscribe to a certain set of code as per the NPC guidelines. Delta Xi Omega has opened several chapters after they were featured on Sorority Life including a Canadian one where I go to university.
Don't get me wrong I think the show is ridiculous and as a part of an NPC international sorority I would be appalled if anyone who was a member of NPC were to sign up for such a thing.

Well, the Sigma Chi offshoot chapter from Buffalo was closed after being on MTV, as was the California chapter shown last year.
I think there have been only two seasons of fraternity life, but I'm not an MTV afficianado, so I'm not 100% sure how many others have been profiled on Fraternity Life.

From what I understand, SAEPi also expanded to a few other campuses after the show ended.

They are both local fraternities - Sigma Chi Omega (Buffalo) and Delta Omega Chi (UC Santa Cruz).

Quote:
MTV’s Fraternity Life Sigma Chi Omega has no affiliation with Sigma Chi Fraternity
The fraternity Sigma Chi Omega portrayed on MTV’s Fraternity Life has no relation to the Sigma Chi Fraternity. The local fraternity at the University at Buffalo did apply at one time to become a petitioning local of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, but its application was denied.
The Fraternity is concerned with potential trademark and copyright violations, and has turned matters over to its attorneys for investigation and pursuit as appropriate.

FYI: The chapter is still listed on the University of Buffalo's Greek Affairs page.

Monica, a girl from my high school, was on Sorority Life 3 (the one in Santa Cruz) and she said that it was actually a positive experience. She wasn't on camera a lot since she was having some family problems at the time, but she said that she couldn't really say anything bad about having MTV.
