The official, "I'm clumsy" thread

So I am the clumsiest person I know I seriously injured myself last night and had to go to the emergency room for stitches. Anyone else have these problems? Anyone else ever hurt themselves badly because they are a klutz?

No. I used to have that problem really bad as a kid though. I could not walk and chew gum at the same time.

I've hit my head on windows before, on couch arm rests.

I sprained my wrist by slapping a guy across the face, and it still hurts a year later. On New Years Day I smacked that wrist once on the corner of the table, and once on the doorknob in my office. Needless to say, it hurt again for a while.

I was bouncing on a bed at our Rush Retreat one year, and the ceilings were low. I forgot, stood up, and gave myself a minor concussion.

I went to put my head on my ex's arm, and he decided to get up at the same time, and I smacked my eye on his elbow.

I'm sure there's more but I can't rememer. I'm the queen of injuring myself.

Oh yeah. Freshman year of high school, the new members on the tennis team had the job of carrying out the ball crates, hula hoops, jump ropes, radio, anything you can think of. There was a large hill down to the courts. In front of the whole team, including the senior managers that were on the boys' team, I tripped in a hole and fell, and everything went tumbling down the hill. No one helped me pick everything up.

I'm clumsy! I have so many embarrassing stories of walking into things or seriously injuring myself. Broke my elbow during rollerblading!

When I was 13, I was in North Carolina with my family and we went to Grandfather Mountain. There is a zoo of some kind at the top. The zoo provides peanuts that you can feed to some of the animals. Anyway, we were at the deer exhibit. There was a fence then a moat of water and then the land for the deer. I was with my little cousin and I noticed that everytime she would throw the peanuts at the animals that she would miss and it would land in the water. What a waste! Then I noticed that I was doing the same thing. I leaned over the fence a little further to throw the food but leaned too far. I went head first into the moat of water!!! I'm wading through the water screaming, "Help! The deer are going to eat me!" (I was 13...cut me some slack...I didn't know that deers aren't carnivores) The deer had actually scampered away when they saw me fall into the water. My uncle and my father had to pull me out of the water (back over the fence which ended up cutting my legs some more). I was bleeding and bruised. I was also drenched. My mother brought me into the bathroom and tried to dry me off via the hand dryer but it could only do so much. I had to walk around the zoo the rest of the day...bleeding and soaked. On top of it, a ton of people had seen my fall and I would hear whispers when I walked by them of, "Hey, that's the girl that fell into the deer water!" So freakin' embarrassing.....

I still have scars up and down my legs from where the fence cut me open.

Haha, I'm so klutzy. My mom calls me Grace because of it. Here are 2 examples:

* I was in high school and we were cleaning out our cellar (really old stone farmhouse, just a dirt slope to the cellar) and I had one of those sled saucers piled up with stuff. There was a bike in the path from the cellar to outside, and I stepped over it ok with my right leg, but didn't lift my left leg high enough and my ankle got caught in the sprocket and ripped the skin on my ankle. I have a heart shaped scar now.

* My senior year of college we had been at the bar and came home and decided to play in the parking lot. We decided to go back into the sorority house and I was running and tripped over a crack in the cement patio and flew face first into the concrete steps, hitting the corner of one of the steps with my eye. I had a black eye for a long time and a bump at the point of impact for like a year.

I trip over EVERYTHING. I am always covered in bruises. My mom used to refer to me as the most ungraceful dancer she ever met(cause when I was on drill team I would trip ALL THE TIME) It hasn't gotten any better now...I run into stuff all the time and constantly hit my hands/elbows on stuff.

I sprain my ankles, on average, about 3 times a year each. Its really just that bad. I keep a set of crutches, two lace-up ankle braces, & two air-casts in the trunk of my car. Not kidding. That is how clumsy I am!

I stepped in a hole about 3 years ago and broke my ankle, but never had it fixed. So when I pull a graceful move, it gets swollen again. I keep Icy/Hot and an ankle wrap on hand just in case.

Here's my most recent clumsy moment, a week after it occured:

I was at a restaurant for lunch (completely sober) and was walking to the bathroom when I turned a corner and smacked my face into a pole. I started my new job 2 days later and everyone thought I was having "domestic issues." It stayed black and blue for a month.

I also tend to sprain my ankles badly. I've torn all the ligaments and tendons in them before... no more running for me!

If my mother & brother would read this, they'd both say, "Amateurs!" They've been vying for Klutz of the Year for so long, I thought my brother's name was AP when I was a little girl (AP for Accident Prone - it was put on his report card!).

The two of them have fallen in display windows, fracturing their skulls and/or landing on the claw of a hammer.

My brother has been snake bitten so many times, he looks as if he has freckled arms! He's gotten fish hooks in his fingers and nose, and tripped while carrying (laundry, hot coffee, stacks of papers, a sick Doberman, an injured cat, etc). He's turned on Christmas lights while having his thumb in an empty socket.

My mother's dog yelps when she walks within a foot of his paws, she's stepped on the little guy so many times. She has also "forgotten" to use a pot holder to take things out of the oven, put the oven on 500° to warm up some rolls, and has done a half gainer coming out of a restaurant.

Both fall or miss steps so often, it's not worth mentioning. And I know that I'm leaving out a lot!

My accident was so stupid. I was walking around the corner and a piece of metal fence was laying over and I walked into it (didn't see it) and it punctured my leg, about 1/2 an inch. It hurts. So bad. 5 stitches!! On top of that, I have strep throat.......OH and on Monday, I tripped over a cord in my classroom and landed on my knee in front of a room of freshmen.
