which GPA ? (transfer situation)

When I am asked what my current GPA is do I say that it was the one from my previous school or the one that hasn't shown up on my transcripts at my current school? I have asked my advisor this and they said when joining groups your first semester at a new school some only want the GPA that has transfered (because not all grades/credits transfer) and some want the last recorded GPA at the previous school. My problem is that my GPA that has transfered won't come up until the current semester that we're in has been entered into the computer so as of right now, unless I add up the grades that did transfer and give the sorority that paper I have no proof of a GPA. What is normal? Am I making a big deal out of this for nothing? Any help on GPA transfer information would be helpful.

Thanks so much!

I don't know if it is the same at your school but when I transfered my chapter looked at my last semesters grades and not my overall gpa. I am not sure if you are just transfering or if you have been there for a semester already. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If the sorority wants your GPA they will find out a way to get it. Hope this helps a little. Good luck!

Normally, you would use your GPA from your previous school. It's the same for new freshmen. They use their high school GPA. BUT, I know at some schools, the requirement for new freshmen and transfers is usually higher. For instance, at one school where I advise, if you're a current student there, with a GPA from the school, you have to have a 2.3 to rush. If you're a transfer or new freshmen, you need a 2.5 from your previous institution.

It differs on every campus and you should talk to the Greek Life office to make sure you report what is necessary.
