Are you an alcoholic?

http://efap.torontopolice.on.ca/alcohol_test.html

I don't understand . . . if thats accurate that almost any college student that drinks is an alcoholic or any person that has ever had enough alcohol to become drunk.

But thats a standard questionaire dsigned to see if someone is an alcoholic.

7. Do you turn to lower companions and an inferior environment when drinking?
What?

Wow I never knew I needed help with my alcoholic ways...

Seems to me that some of those questions are a lot bigger deal than some others. I mean is the person who was declared an alcoholic because they drink to overcome shyness and boost self esteem, (Maybe only once a month at a party) as much of an alcoholic as the one who is having difficulties with their job,a nd craves a drink at the same time everyday ?? I don't think so.

I saw you with that jug of Carlo Rossi sangria! Maybe if you laid off the Uncle Carlo you wouldn't want purple UGGs

I don't think I can comment though, last semester there was an evening with $200 shoes and icky beer from a can and a fry daddy. Oh and last night I bought a bottle of El Gato Negro for $3.09 to fake out my friends with.

Heh... standard form rolled out for our chapter's alcohol awareness program... and yes when the test is done I have only seen non-drinkers ever score "non-alcoholic" on it... however it does get you to thinking about your drinking habits -

I always started a count-up, or how many scored 2 or more... and when we got to 10 or more it was harder for the people with hands still up not to see that they may have a problem.

Basically means do you go "slumming", hang-out with people you would when sober - or do you lower your personal standards when you are looking for drinking companions or locales...

My sorority HQ made us take an interactive survey thing on alcohol use . . . It was about four hours long and GeekyPenguin got to listen to me bitch for all four hours of it, and there is only one interesting fact that I remember learning from it: Over half of all college students have drinking habits that would alarm professionals if they took place outside of a college setting . . . but since they're in college, nobody worries that much about it.

If you're still drinking the same way at 35, then they start to worry.

I dunno . . . studies have shown that 3-5 drinks daily has a cardiovascular protective effect greater than the anti-cholesterol medication.

That level of drinking also shows no increase in mortalility versus abstainers.

However, if this is a morality issue, this is a whole different matter.
