Pins on Ebay - a Different kind of thread

Alright girls, heres the deal. I am not a collector, nor do I wish to have any badge/pin other than my own. That said, I don't feel it right that people with no love for our letters, colors, meaning, sisterhood, organization, etc, should have their hands on OUR property, and I plan to bid on badges/pins as I see them come available. Like most of you, I'm not made of money!!! If you think of it this way, however, most of them go for between $35 and $50...If any or all of you could help out with at least a fraction of that, we'll be able to send our beautiful badges back home!

It's very easy - - for those of you that don't EBay or have an online payment account, just go to http://www.paypal.com and set one up. It is very safe and secure, and the only information you share with other users is your email address that you choose upon registration.

I know of one of you that woudln't mind helping out here and there, who is is for this?? Please let me know in advance, so I can bid away!!!!

(And I'll be sure to include a letter with every badge going back to NHQ including the names of everyone that helped out - - The GC SK Badge Rescue Group )

Amy, I hate to burst your bubble, but Nationals expressly discourages members from bidding on badges as it drives the price up when we bid against each other. There are chapter consultants at NHQ which keep track of badges on ebay as well. They also discourage us from emailing ebay sellers asking them to give the badges back to NHQ, as it can create possible legal problems.

Most of the badges which appear on ebay are the result of estate auctions. Family members, unless they have been told, there is an article in the will, or there is a note with the badge, famly members often do not know what to do with it and consider it another piece of jewelry.

This is why I encourage all sisters to put a not in their badge box as to what to do with it in the event of their death. There is already one with mine, just a little note, and it took me less than 5 minutes.

I know we all hate to see these badges online, but sometimes it can be beyond our control. If you have questions, please feel free to email NHQ and ask them what the policy is, or look at the SK website under Sisters Only.
