You might be a Delta...
Sorors, we may have done something similar to this before, but I thought it'd be fun to see what things we all do that are characteristic ONLY of members of DST. I know I catch myself doing stuff (even when I'm all alone) that makes me giggle to myself!
Sisterfriends, and other non-Deltas, please let us have this one all to ourselves!
(Disclaimer: We all know the protocol; this list is unique to the experiences and personalities of each individual soror, and not a reflection of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc.)
Here's my list:
YOU MIGHT BE A DELTA IF...
1. ...you do the "call" whenever you see/hear a Delta faucett commercial, Delta Airline promo, or an elephant on TV.
2. ...you do the "call" whenever you see a famous Soror on TV or in a magazine, and (if you're around someone else) you say "She's a Delta!" with a big, proud grin on your face.
3. ...no matter how cute the outfit, you just can't bring yourself to wear anything with pink and green as the only or main colors. You simply CAN'T!
4. ...you recite Founders, and do Delta chants, steps, or strolls around the house... just because.
5. ...you have more elephant figurines than you know what to do with.
6. ... you'll buy something with an elephant on it, no matter what it is (or if it's cute).
7. ... you get defensive when someone says the Delta colors are Red & White.
8. ... you act like you've actually "kicked it" with famous members of Omega Psi Phi, especially if you see one of 'em throw up da hooks on TV!
9. ... you have a red or a red & white toothbrush.

Sounds more like... "You might be a "Not-so-Seasoned" Delta"... I think this type of activity goes away with "Delta age"...

I definitely find myself still displaying the behavior indicated in numbers 2, 3 and 5/6.
I am proud of our sorors and will let all the world know that DST is an organization comprised of women of substance (#3).
I just love elephants, what they represent and the fact that they are associated (unofficially!) with our beloved sisterhood (#5/6).
And while I have MUCH RESPECT for the ladies of AKA, I loathe the combination of pink and green, regardless of the shade, regardless of the form or substance (#2).
Funny thing is that as an alumnae soror, I rarely do the 'call' so I find I get a bit rusty when I do.
To add to the list, You Might be a Delta if you have read In Search of Sisterhood more than twice and can recite passages from it!

BeeJae, you're right about that in many of the cases I've listed, 'cause I am far from seasoned (only 4)! But, I know my Aunt and her sands still do/say a lot of Delta-ish things, and they pledged in '68! It's hilarious--sometimes it's like they're neos all over again!
And I'm Out!

LMAO!
I do #2-6 and I always buy a red toothbrush. I do #8 also, or I say that person is a Que.
If I see Sorors or Bruhs stepping on tv, I do the call. Also before I was a Soror I would stand in front of the mirroe and practice the call and sign. (DOn't tell anyone)
Soror 411 I have 6 years, but I also know of older Sorors that have the same amount of pride.

 You might be a Delta
If most of your closet is broken into color schemes-Red/Black/White!
If you see your Sand in the Mall and you run up to her and OOOOO-OOOOOP!
If you have the New Red/White/Grey Airmax by Nike because you have plenty of T-Shirts too match.
If when you are on Roadtrip you are singing "Delta Songs" and people are staring at you driving down the road!
You carried "In Search of Sister Hood", like it was a Bible, before you went to a Rush!
When you hear that certain song and you try and to make up a stroll to it!

... you think "To Be Real" is the up-and-coming Delta Song, 'cause you've kicked it with Alpha chapter sorors.

Soror, lol! Before I became a Delta, we used to "play step" in our rooms....Of course with the doors locked.. (never can be too cautious)
And to Soror 411's list:
(I thought it was just me being a NEO!!!!)
Imagine how geeked I was to have a bruh speak at my graduation. Bill Cosby! )
Also imagine actually riding an elephant in Africa. (I have this one pic of my Sands and I riding this elephant, and it looks like the elephant is grinning. It's cute! ...like the elephant is happy 'cause she has 2 Deltas on her back! heehee)

You might be a Delta if:
YOU ALMOST THROW A DANG SHOE AT THE T.V EVERYTIME YOU SEE UGLY JAY-Z AND HIS CREW THROWING UP DA PYRAMID!!!!
Ok can you tell I'm mad about that? lollol! I know Jay-Z says it stands for dynasty and all that, but half his crew don't do it right and it looks like da mid.
Ole Owl looking Jay-Z...hmph!
