Locals Not on Panhel
Just looking to see if there are any other campuses where there are local sororities that do not participate in Panhellenic and/or Panhellenic Recruitment. On my campus the locals are involved in the Inter-Greek Council but do not participate in Panhel by choice and I was curious if any other campuses have a similar situation.
Thanks!

We're associate members of Panhellenic and don't participate in Formal Recruitment.
ETA: Sierra, saw your post below. That's exactly what we do.

My local sorority was an associate member of Panhel. We were not allowed to participate in formal recruitment for the first year of our existence. After that, we got the choice to participate in FR or not, and we chose to participate.
Edit: The one year we weren't allowed to participate in FR, we had our own recruitment one week later. One of the rho chis from FR even remained deaffiliated to handle bid-related paperwork. We weren't allowed to have recruitment at the same time as FR, but we were allowed to set up an information table that PNMs could visit between parties. (I should say "they" because I was a PNM.)

probably should have been more clear. in my school the locals don't participate in formal recruitment but they have their own recruitment at the same time, kind of like their own COB events. I was wondering if any other campuses had anything similar.
but thanks for the replies so far!!

We aren't on Pan-hell, but we can participate in rush the same week. There's a lot of animosity from the other sororities though, so I'm not sure how it will work out. But we are having our rush the same week (sorry, recruitement) just on different nights.

We have a local that will most likely never be invited to join our Panhel. There is still animosity from the reason why they formed, even though those girls are no longer active. Also many of their members are not even UMD students, which is a huge no no in the Panhel world. They also don't participate in Greek Week because we require that people participating are UMD students. (active alumni and transfers used to participate)
We also have Alpha Omega Epsilon, which is an engineering sorority. They participate in Greek Week, but obviously not in recruitment with us.

At Bloomsburg, the locals are all in Panhel, and can even hold offices and everything. They participate in the formal recruitment process with the NPC groups as well. With an even amount of NPC and local sororities, it's easier that way.

at my university the locals and nationals are treated with the exact same rules. They all do formal recruitment, all on panhel, all do activities together, etc.
