Favorite Sublime Song

Early in the morning, risin' to the street
Light me up that cigarette and I strap shoes on my feet
Got to find a reason, a reason things went wrong
Got to find a reason why my money's all gone

I got a dalmation, and I can still get high
I can play the guitar like a mother fucking riot
Life is (too short), so love the one you got
Cause you might get runover or you might get shot

Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest
Never start no static I just get it off my chest
Take a small example, take a tip from me
Take all of your money, give it all to charity
Love is what I got
It's within my reach

And the Sublime style's still straight from Long Beach
It all comes back to you, you'll finally get what you deserve
Try and test that you're bound to get served
Love's what I got
Don't start a riot
You'll feel it when the dance gets hot

Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that
Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that

(That's) why I don't cry when my dog runs away
I don't get angry at the bills I have to pay
I don't get angry when my Mom smokes pot
Hits the bottle and goes right to the rock
Fuckin' and fightin', it's all the same
Livin' with Louie dog's the only way to stay sane
Let the lovin', let the lovin' come back to me

Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that
Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that

Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that
Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that

Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that
Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that

Lovin', is what I got, I said remember that
Lovin', is what I got, I got I got I got I...got

[Note: There is another version of this song with 2 following lines reordered in the 2nd verse:

"Never start no static I just get it off my chest
Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest"]

No question about it.

I know it's just the first line, but I mark the beginning of most summer days (usually starting in May or whenever the weather here is consistently glorious enough) by cranking this song up on the way to work. It just makes things seem a little more carefree and relaxed than they really are!

Sublime - Doin' Time - Second Hand Smoke

Summertime and the livin's easy
Bradley's on the microphone with Ras-MG
All the people in the dance will agree that
we're well qualified to represent the LBC

Me and Louie we're gunna run to the party and
dance till the rhythm it gets harder

Ba da ba bye bye
Ba da ba bye bye

Me and my girl we got this relationship
I love her so bad but she treats me like shhh
All locked down like a penitentiary
She spreads her lovin all over
and when she gets home
there's none left for me

Summertime and the livin's easy
Bradley's on the microphone with Ras-MG
All the people in the dance will agree that we're
well qualified to represent the LBC

Me and Louie we're gunna run to the party
and dance till the rhythm it gets
harder

Ba da ba bye bye
Ba da ba bye bye
Ba da ba bye bye
Ba da ba bye bye

So take this veil from off my eyes
My burning sun will some day rise
And what am I gunna be doin for a wife
I said I'm gunna play with myself
Show them now we've come off the shelf

Summertime and the livin's easy
Bradley's on the microphone with Ras-MG
All the people in the dance will agree that we're
well qualified to represent the LBC

Me and Louie we're gunna run to the party
and dance till the rhythm it gets harder

Evil
Evil
Tension
Tension
Hold her
Water

Evil come to tell you that she's evil
most definitely
Evil, horny scandalous and evil
most definitely

The tension is growing hotter
I'd like to hold her head underwater

Summertime and the livin's easy
Bradley's on the microphone with Ras-MG
All the people in the dance will agree that we're
well qualified to represent the LBC

Me and Louie everybody run to the party
and dance till the rhythm it gets harder

I think y'all took my favorite songs already. I don't know how many times I've been in a room where everyone got stoned and drunk to various Sublime songs. Smoke Two Joints and Summertime, the BOB MARLEY's Rivers of Babylon cover are by far my favorites though.

I was truly blessed to see Sublime live 3 times before Bradley died and the group disbanded.

"What I Got" is just my song. I swear it is on every mix tape I make.

After that, "40 oz. to Freedom" and "Boss DJ."

I have to admit I prefer them to CDs . . . there is something so much cuter about the tape format.

BUT considering the last time I bought a CD (I admit it, I am one of those evil music-stealers) it's pretty much easier to go with the mix CD format than with the tape.
