Exclamation Winterize Now!

I got this important message this morning:

==============================

Gentlemen,

Did you know that the fraternal insurance carrier paid out over $1.58
million in claims for the months November-January 2003-4?

The leading causes of loss:
1) Freeze
2) Fire
3) Vandalism/Theft
4) Water damage

Don't let this happen to your chapter. Please look here
(http://www.kirklin.com/risk_management_resources.htm
<http://www.kirklin.com/pdf/Winter%2...20Checklist.pdf> ) for a
Winterization checklist.

Also, our insurance carrier hosted a recent conference call for
fraternities on how to care for your facility. To take part in this
call, please follow the instructions below. To see the accompanying
document, go here:
http://www.PhiKappaPsi.com/app/pkp/...erBreak2004.pdf

Happy Holidays,

Mark...

Cool

Russ, thanks for posting this and hope many heed it.

Greek Organizational cost have risen so high, and it is due to Insurance cost.

We are all in this together.

Also, if you have a suite in a dorm or other on-campus housing, check with Res Life as to whether the heat will be kept on over winter break. This can damage things as well. Plus if you are coming back early for rush workshops, make sure they know so you aren't all popsicles!!

Question

I dont know if any Greek Organizations have a program like this, but LXA will give Low Cost Loans to Chapters who will either put in Fire Sprinkler Systems in a new house or and existing House.

If imposible, then be very careful with what a open flame can and will do.

Who cares about Paul L.? Has nothing to do with this thread?????

How does one winterize?

I don't think we do that this far south.

Southern chapters are more at risk than northern ones. This is because everyone in the North always takes the needed steps to winterize.

Here is a checklist of what needs to be done.

Okay, this is familiar. Not needed in our case. Our house is occupied year-round.

Gamma Phi Beta sends this checklist out to all housed chapters every year. I think it's a great idea and we're glad they do it - our house is occupied for most of winter break, but some of the items are good to know.
