Pacers/Pistons game
WTH?!?! Ok, how is a foul going to lead to a melee like that. Yes, Ben Wallace was out of order. But, why are fans throwing drinks and punches? Why are players fighting fans? Poor Larry Brown
How will the league handle this? What will happen to Wallace and Artest? What consequence will the fans face (the man who threw the beer at Artest deserves some sort of punishent)?

Why am I not surprised Ron Artest was in the middle of it?
I have never seen anything like that in my life. Wow, are there going to be major suspensions and lawsuits going on. Pretty scary scene!

Larry Brown was practically in tears in a press conference afterward. That was really sad...
It was the focus of the local news casts at 11 last night (of course) and one of the things mentioned is that these two teams face each other again on Christmas Day in Indiana.

Utterly embarrassing and ridiculous (plus, I couldn't see my Miami highlights before I went to bed last night because of this coverage )
I'm also not surprised that Ron Artest had some sort of role in this. Great talent with a questionable head. I expected intensity -- you have the defending champions and a division rival -- but not
that.

i just caught it on the news this morning and my jaw dropped. why are people so stupid?! i dont even know what to say after seeing that. i am ashamed for them
i just saw footage of children in the crowd crying. that really ticks me off it breaks my heart that they had to be there to watch that.

SportsCenter is a bunch of dumbf*&^s. Yeah, the fan who started throwing shit shouldn't have done that, but that dumbass player should NOT have jumped in the stands and started pretty much an arena riot.
But of course Sports Center made it sound like Detroit is a bunch of hoodlums and ohhhh be careful of Detroit now. I don't even remember what he said but I know I was getting really pissed and annoyed with what they were saying.
Detroit has been trying to build its reputation of being a strong city, and these unsportsmanlike fans last night are an embarrassment. But as an athlete, you don't just jump into the stands and start knocking people out. I saw people just standing on the floor and a Pacers' player just went and knocked him in the head. THAT is unsportsmanlike... and I don't care what SportsCenter says... you don't defend yourself like that.

That fight made my night yesterday. I had spent 6 hours studying before I caught that highlight with about 15 of my brothers. Unbelieveable.
But the catalyst for this whole riot was the fans. Everything was cooling down pretty readily, and that one guy throws the cup. Absolutely 100% uncalled for, and you seriously have to think "hmm, Ron Artest, there's someone who is going to take getting hit with a plastic cup maturally". That guy (who threw the cup) was the catalyst and his actions are what led to the incident.
As for the people who came on the court, they got what was coming to them. You dont' go down on to the court during the middle of a fight unless your planning to get involved. No person worried about their safety does something like that, and I hope that the legal system points that out, and those f*****s dont' get a dime.
I really think that if the fans had stayed out of it, that would have died down without much incident. The fans were the ones who were making it unsafe and throwing things like that chair that came flying in.
Absolutely unbelieveable.

The more I see, the more I think (and no one is a bigger advocate for personal responsibility than me) that Ron Artest is largely a victim of colossal circumstances. Poor bastards just a lightning rod. But I dont know of ANYONE in the NBA (or MLB, come to mind) that wouldnt have charged that cup throwing knock-kneed coward. What I saw was righteous indignation from a lot of the players, and a lot of cheap shots thrown by the Detroit fans. Places other than Detroit do have these kinds of problems, but that doesnt excuse Detroit. After this season, or even sometime during, the possibility of eliminating courtside seats altogether should be examined.
Oh, and I thought it was fucking hilarious when Jermaine O'Neal clocked that tubby bastard on the court.

Everyone is to blame here. The fans deserved to get the shit kicked out of them by the players b/c they are the ones who incited the whole thing. The players deserve to get suspended for the rest of the season. It's an emotional game & some people get overenthusiastic. That's not excusing the fan but he would have likely been kicked out of the game.
The victims were the kids we saw on the highlights. The little boy crying in his brothers arms & the little girl who looked scared to death next to her dad. Also, the poor old lady who got trampled. Seriously, wtf were these people thinking? I haven't seen anything this bad since the Dodger game where the fan threw a beer bottle at Milton Bradley.
The fan who threw the stuff knew exactly what they were doing. Who throws stuff at guys like Artest & Bradley? Everyone knows they have extremely volatile tempers. It's just adding fuel to an already burning fire.
Too bad about the lawsuits though. Just another way to give the NBA a bad rep. In addition, you can bet those guys will just end up buying season packages with their $$$.

Oh god, give it up - i know you love hockeytown but this is only one in a series of bullshit events in detroit sports history (disco demolition night, anyone?) . . . sometimes you're called hoodlums because YOU ACT LIKE HOODLUMS.

Yeah, and that reputation is forever destroyed in my mind. You'd have knocked that mouthy-ass clown down too if you'd been rabbit punched in the back of the head while trying to break stuff up (which is why O'Neal went nuts), or if you had trash cans full of beer/brat sludge tossed on you, or if you were getting held back while you get punched (which is what happened to Artest).
Yeah, Ron Artest is a nutcase, but in this case how much do you expect the man to take? If any fan gets a single dollar out of this, we should go piss on his lawn, b/c it's a joke.
Also - no suspensions will be for the 'season', I was watching SC in the bar all night, they just suspended 4 players (Wallace, O'Neal, Artest, Jackson) but I'd guess they get the 'indefinite' which turns into 5-7 games. Less for Wallace, perhaps more for O'Neal.
