Savannah.
Great place...not too far away from you.
Maybe Hilton Head if you want to make the drive.
Arkansas is unlucky to be stuck near no worthwhile cities, but common formal destinations are Kansas City, Dallas, Memphis, and St. Louis.

Um, how does any of this help? Savannah is nearly 4 hours away and he said that he wants some place within 2 hours. And Hilton Head, SC?
Since it is pretty close to you, I take it that you have already thought of Daytona Beach. Look up places like St. Augustine, FL and Palm Coast, FL. They are both less than an hour and a half from you. You should even look into Jacksonville Beach, FL and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (Each are just below two hours away). They are so many places to stay in these cities. I will leave it up to you to look them up online since you know what you want.

Daytona Beach has plenty of resorts. I'd start there.
Also, consider New Smyrna (closer to you) and Cocoa.
Outside the beach theme: You should also look at downtown Orlando and Thornton Park, The Orlando Art Museum, etc. Also in your 2 hour range are all of the Disney and Universal parks and resorts, as well as International Drive. You have a TON of options.

The Garden Club in Jacksonville is absolutely beautiful. I have been to a fashion show and a wedding there. It is right by the river. It would be a dreamy place to have a formal event.

I forgot about that place. It also reminds me of my ADPi formal a few years ago. It was at River City Brewing Company (in Jacksonville) and it was so awesome. It is in the middle of downtown. We were in a second floor room that had a bar, dancefloor, and dining area. We were surrounded by glass that gave us an almost panoramic view of the river and downtown. There was also a balcony that wrapped almost completely around the place. It was such a fun night.

Don't forget the west coast resorts like Sanibel and such. And if you can overnight and have enough people willing to go, there are some fabulous places in Miami such as night clubs, beautiful hotels, etc. Or maybe Ft. Lauderdale.

OP is looking for something w/in a 2 hour drive, though. That would rule out South FL-- Vero Beach and Melbourne would prob be as far South as they'd want to be coming from Stetson.
I like the W Coast of FL, but it seems silly given all the closer options. Sanibel and St Augustine may be more than 2 hours... Jacksonville possibly right at 2 hours.

Closer to you, there are some awesome places in Cocoa Beach, and Daytona has a bunch of beach hotels as well.

I definitely second The Garden Club & River City Brewing Company. Both gorgeous places, and close enough to DeLand.
I know there are some really nice places in the Daytona area, like the Ocean Walk Resort. www.oceanwalk.com

Ocean Walk and the Hilton in Daytona are nice
You really should do Savannah if at all possible though.

Thank you.
If no brother wants to drive (which is usually the case, cuz they want to be drinking) rent a party bus. That way all the dates get safely to the location and you can drink the whole way there.

The OP said they wanted a beach. Champions Gate has awesome courses but I know that I wouldn't be paying any attention to my date if we were there. El Campeon at Howey in the Hills is a better place to go if you want a golf resort anyway.

I have been to several events at the River City Brewing Company! It is a popular place for bid day events for many of UNF's sororities.
Also, MOSH (Museum of Science and History) is right next door, and I know it can be rented out for formals and such. My chapter actually had a formal there and it was a blast!
