A 19-year-old University of Colorado student was arrested Friday after a sorority member told police that she was sexually assaulted inside the men's bathroom of the Omni Interlocken Hotel during a Greek social function.
Yakov Jake GalperinYakov Jake Galperin faces charges of first-degree sexual assault, false imprisonment and the illegal consumption of alcohol for a minor.
The 18-year-old sorority member was one of nearly 200 people bussed to the swanky resort as part of a social gathering involving the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Many of the individuals had been drinking prior to their arrival at the Omni but there was also a cash bar available, Broomfield police said.
Three off-duty Broomfield officers were working this event, monitoring individuals who appeared intoxicated, and investigating reports of underage drinking when the 18-year-old told one of the officers that she had been sexually assaulted.
Both CU students were under the influence of alcohol, Broomfield police said. The suspect admitted drinking alcohol that was purchased from the Omni cash bar.
The Omni closed the cash bar just prior to the report of the sexual assault because bartenders felt that those who were 21 years of age or older were buying alcohol for underage people.
