Yes, and no.

I'm a legal resident of Florida, and my ballot was mailed a few days ago.

I currently live in NY, so I have the "power" of living in a swing state without the hassle that comes with the ads and haggling over Florida votes.

Not only do I live in a swing state (Florida) but I also live in one of the most targeted areas for the elections which is known as the I-4 corridor. It's the area along I-4 which includes three major cities: Tampa, Orlando, and Daytona Beach. The Central Florida area could swing either way during this election so we have more ads on TV than any other part of Florida. I just want the election to be over so I don't have to see these crappy commercials anymore.
On top of it, Spike Lee and P. Diddy keep calling my cell phone to tell me to vote on Tuesday. They are wasting my minutes.

Why aren't they calling me? I have a Florida cell phone number!

Are you serious? That's deep!

I read yesterday that 1.8 million people early voted in Florida. I live in NC -- probably not a swing state but my ballot clearly read Kerry/Edwards.

It was cool the first couple of times I got the calls but Spike Lee called at 10:30am (recorded automated message, of course...I'd be more excited if he called for real) and I was mad because he woke me up out of hangover sleep. Plus I already voted for Kerry/Edwards last week.

I love living in a swing state.

Although it probably helps that I watch next to zero television.
And have a cell phone and not a land line.

At least when you live in a swing state, you feel your vote matters! I'm sick of the hype on both sides though, and wish the "No call" list applied to political campaigners too!

I was told that it's illegal to call a cell phone for political reasons. Hmm...

Anyhow, just in the last hour, I have received 4 telephone calls for my vote. Also, the sheer amount of political ads boggles the mind! If the money spent on campaigning was put toward feeding the homeless or finding a cure for AIDS, we'd have it settled by now.

My name is honeychile, and I approve of this message.

I live in the swing state of Pennsylvania (near Philadelphia.)

Positive about living in a swing state:
It's nice to know that the candidates do care about your state.

Negative about living in a swing state:
On the other hand, it's annoying to turn on the TV and see the latest photo op/get a phone call advertising for a particular candidate.

Bush has been in PA 43 times since he "became" president in 2000.

I'll be glad when Tuesday hits, and things can back to normal.

BTW: I am registered to vote and plan to go the polls on Nov. 2nd.

I feel your pain, EagleChick! I heard Pennsylvania referred to as "The White House North" on the news today! I think both candidates have been here over 50 times!

honeychile,
Aren't you from Pittsburgh? Pittsburghers are cool in my book.

Back to the thread at hand....

But, the Democrats want to keep PA for this election since Gore won it by just a smidge in 2000. It's also helpful that the Gov. (Rendell) is also a Democrat and used to the head of the DNC.

Here's my political message: NO MORE POLITICAL ADS!

My name is EagleChick19...and I've approved this msg..LOL

Yes, I'm near the 'Burgh - along with many other stellar Greek Chatters! I did date a guy in school from Delaware County, though, if it helps.

Rendell HAS to bring PA to the Democrats to save his own reputation. Needless to say - and nothing against Rendell - but I hope he blows it.

Dude, I was in Philly for the WEEKEND and I thought I was going insane with all the political ads. Can't imagine having to deal with that for months on end.
