You seem to want quite a few recommendations.

I don't think any KDs here will just randomly write a rec for someone they don't even know.
You need to contact the alumnae association closest to your area (which can be found by visiting kappadelta.org) or contact our national HQ to put you in touch with an alumnae close to you.
I'm not sure when your rush is, but if it's a fall rush, you're sure cutting it pretty close.

It happens quite often. There's a lot of threads about it in the rush forum. Technically it is the sorority's responsibility, but at bigger more competitive (often southern) schools a PNM really needs to secure recs before rush. If they don't have recs, they face a strong possibility of being cut.

I know it's not a big deal here at ECU, but yeah I have friends down South in big schools that are greek that if their potential new members don't have recs they get cut since they are SO many greeks. I know it's hard to imagine for some of us, but I had two of my friends ask my mom for one to get asked back to Tri Delta.

rushing

I'm interested in rushing after I transfer (next fall) and would like some info about it. I'm in SAI, but we're professional and my school isn't very big on Greeks (that an understatement!) so I don't really know much about the process. Also, SAI has a few minimum requirements (GPA, etc.) Does KD have those things? Could someone fill me in?

Well you've come to the right place for general knowledge, so I'll do my best to help you there. Specific answers for whatever school you're transferring to can best be answered by that school's VP Membership or President.

Nation-wide Kappa Delta is a top notch sorority of wonderful girls. Each chapter sets in its bylaws different standards for things such as GPA. I'd say about a 2.25 is standard, but some schools have higher or maybe even a TINY bit lower. Beyond that nothing else is required except that you be an undergrad student. So if you're interested, I suggest you email that chapter's president or something and ask about it. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to answer any questions you may have. If you can't find their info, just post the school you're referring to and I'm sure one of us here can put you in contact with someone.

Best regards!!

I'm surprised to see that you say the standard gpa is 2.25. At OSU for our chapter it's 2.7 and there are some other sororities on campus that have raised theirs to 2.75. 2.25 just seems very low to me.

I said there's higher ones. And I got that from a list online of the average GPA's cause I don't know but like 5 other school's reqs.

what about money?

Thanks for the info ladies! I've done some internet research and cruised chapter pages as well poked around the National page. I think I LOVE KD! But I don't need to tell YOU how fabulous it is. I would like to know about initiation fees and regular member dues though. I couldn't find that anywhere!

That's going to TOTALLY vary from school to school. Different chapters have different fees/structures. Your best bet is to contact the Panhel at your school if it's a big concern. Also, they distribute the info during recruitment. You can try to contact the chapter, but they may not be able to directly speak with you due to recruitment rules.

This is quite common. At many schools, you need a rec for every group. Going into rush, you have no idea (or at least don't know for sure) what sorority you will join, if any.

I'm not quite sure why this post upsets you so much. This is quite common, especially on GC.

Not to mention that this post is from quite awhile ago
