Funny, the guy doesn't care...and he still says he'll never come to Fenway again.
When I was about 10 years old, he and a bunch of other Sox/MLB old-timers (Luis Tiant, Bill Lee, Jim Rice, etc.) played an ESPN team in a charity softball game. The main baseball field in my town happened to also be the former home of a Sox AA team; with ESPN based out of my hometown, those are the reasons the game took place.
Anyway, a bunch of us are lined up waiting for autographs and to meet the players. Buckner is playing catch with someone in front of us. Of course, being a smart ass Yankee fan, I had to whisper to the kid next to me "Watch out that Buckner doesn't miss the ball." Of course, he heard me, and he wouldn't sign my baseball till after the game when he forgot about the incident.
Like Rob said, there were other factors in that game...was Clemens really suffering from a blister, why did Schiraldi go wild all of a sudden, etc. Buckner was only a very small piece of it all.
